I have two questions regarding my female bun. She just gave birth not this past Saturday but the Saturday before (October 4), just in case that is relevant.

1 - She is not eating hay like she was. I thought at first the hay I was giving her might be bad so I gave her some more. She may be eating a little but that's hard to tell. She seems to be drinking water fine. I was told on the breeding forum to feed her unlimited pellets so maybe that is filling her up now?

2 - I have a NIC cage and coroplast with a small 'lip' around the edge. She's tearing and I'm assuming eating the coroplast. I'm sure she's wanting out some but I let her out this morning while I slept for about an hour and a half and had to put her back up when I left for work and I could hear her doing it again. She won't always do it though. She and the male bun are separated so I'm wondering if she's missing him too. She was out running around the house yesterdy and while I was in the shower went into the kitchen where Morgan is so they saw each other.

Any suggestions? She seems to be acting normal and was running around this morning when she was loose in the bedroom (I'm assuming she's the one I heard running around as they sounded like a bunny :) ).

I don't know too much about caring for a doe with kits, so can't help much there. But if she is eating the pellet and her poops look normal, I wouldn't worry too much. You could try reducing the pellet to more than normal, but not unlimited. Only giving the pellets once a day and providing hay all day could help boost the hay intake.

Penelope used to chew on the chloroplast to the point that I would have to replace some areas often. I eventually replaced the outer lip part and put poster hangers over the top part. She has not chewed it since. Most stores that sell posters will have the hangers next to the poster. They are 2ft long, come in packages of 2 and cost about $3-4 (here at least). If you want pics of a detailed how to guide, PM me.

Poster hangers are a great idea! Wouldn't they be able to be pulled off though or do they hold pretty well?

When I put them on, I had to feed it from one side as they won't fot over the top. I used duct tape to hold the ends down. Penny hasn't gotten them off yet and it has been about 6 months.

Some pics of Pennys cage.
