My husband daughter had this rabbit from a pet store the rabbit was nice but one day as I fed it it growled at me this is not uncommon for this to happen with my bunnies I raise rabbits about all I will say of this I never had a house rabbit. SO anyhow she wanted a friend for her bunny it is a female I said I have had two female that were not raise together and get along but if male and female you will have babies and if the female is bred and had babies in the cage then she will not have another rabbit in with her.
The other rabbit she got is a dutch lop I think it is black and the other one is white. Ok so when she put the black one in the white one went to humping it yes I am sure it is female I have seen this in my bunnies sometime the female will hump her babies but in MY RABBITS it was a sign of wanting to breed and they did could be just a coincidence that they breed when doing this anyhow she took the bunny out. so then the white rabbit was in the cage the black one in a smaller crate. Yesterday I took the black one and put it in the cage the white one I held for a few hours it id fine while you handle it it will bite your clothing and scratch you but you can get it to stop she lets her bunnies run around the room to anyhow after having the rabbit out and the black one in the cage I put it back in I gave them some pellets and water and then the black one seem scared and wouldn't move so I put my hand in to get it to move and the white one now in with it and didn't seem to care it was eating I went to move the black one the white one lunged at me I pulled my hand back Maybe I shouldn't of this happened a few time each time I touched the black one.
On the the last time the white bunny lunged and bit me and drew blood, I Never er had this behave from a rabbit that didn't have babies yes I have had this with rabbits that had babies of course but this ????I am perplexed as to what to do. My bunnies are not inside they have big cages and are bred 2 times a year. This white one I don't know when it lunged at me I first pushed it back and this was down 3 times when it did it again I gave it a tap on the head not hard just enough to get the attention then went it bit me I took it and put it in a another crate small crate.
I don't want her to get rid of this white bunny but she can't have to cages in her room and I can't take it on own it that is anyone have any ideas what I can do short of getting rid of it and even then I would worry that if it bit someone they could sue.
Thanks for anything you can tell me
I don't think she is thinking the black bunny is her baby the white one is months old or a year old and the black bunny is weeks old to a couple of months old I told her that sometimes a bunny will not except another one for it just don't like another one in with it. do you think this could be they both are female.
