Would like to get another young Flemish but am afraid I did something wrong with the last one who died. It was my first rabbit ever so I did a lot of research ahead of time and tried to do everything right but something went terribly wrong. I miss him very much and feel so guilty.

first and utmost i wish to extend my sincere condolences for your loss,-i have been studying the science of rabbits for over 9 years now and a loss always leaves one wondering what could i have done different,etc.??--this forum exists for all people to come together and share their experiences with these critters,--i can only hope you stay the course and continue with your hearts desire,--sincerely james waller:innocent:pray:

aww. i'm so sorry for your loss.

i dont want to sound morbid, but did you just wake up one day and the bunny passed? or was it expected?

So sorry for your loss :(

I'm sure you did nothing wrong. Unfortunately sometimes bunnies go quickly if they suffer from an affliction. Were there any signs of a change in diet or activity?

I would follow your heart and get a new bunny friend. Again, sorry you are going through this.

I'm so sorry! I've lost a lot of babies recently, and it's a horrible feeling. First, do NOT beat yourself up about it. Rabbits, unfortunately, are rather delicate creatures and sometimes die without anyone knowing the reason why.

Where did you get your rabbit? I see you're not far from me. You can PM me privately if you don't want to give a name out on a public forum. How long did you have your bunny?

So sorry that you lost your wee bunny. Part of the grieving process is wondering what you did or should have done and beating yourself up. We all do it. That little rabbit knew love for the short time he had here. You need to extend that love to another little rabbit.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. I am going to get another rabbit sometime in the near future. I have lots of love to give and would like to give love to another rabbit. Thanks again.

I'm sorry, losing a pet is always hard!
You likely didn't do anything wrong, although without significant history and/or a necropsy it is impossible to determine cause of death.

Also, welcome to RO!

considering how young he was when he died and all the research you did, it almost certainly wasn't anything you could've prevented so try really hard not to beat yourself up wondering what you could have done differently! you shouldn't have had him for more than a month since they shouldn't be re-homed until 8 weeks, so it was probably a pre-existing condition... and if you got him younger than that, shame on the breeder. (heck, it's illegal to sell them younger than 8 weeks in many states)

you should definitely get yourself another bunny (or better yet, two!)... and if I were you, I'd get them from someone different this time.

So sad about your baby bun. Even you when follow all the bunny rules sometimes they still don't make it.

I hope you find it in your heart to take in another bun or two, they would be so lucky.
