Well, Trisha is finished kindling. She had 6 big, healthy babies. And, for the first time ever, there were none that were DOA. A positive sign, perhaps??

She was a royal rip before she had kits...and she's just as bad now. This is going to be a long 8 weeks. LOL

On another bright side, we're on day 2 with no deaths. Not sure how some of them are still going but as long as they're willing to fight, I'll keep giving them meds and syringe feeding them.

2 that I thought for sure were going to be gonners are finally pooping. One has normal poops, and the other squishier ones. But poop is poop, and I'll take what I can get.

Speaking of meds...off to the feed store for more.

No pictures yet...I just uncovered them enough to count and check that they were all alive. So far so good!

And the rest of the 12 week old kids are doing okay...some may even be starting to poop again. I hope they're all out of the woods soon. :(

Oh, congrats, I'm very happy for you!! I hope all your babies are well, please send pics and updates!! :)

Any update Wendy? i think we're all dying to know how the babies are doing!

Thanks, everyone! They were all chubby this morning, so she's feeding them. Because the doe's not the friendliest (and that's putting it mildly), and with the crap killing my little ones, I won't touch them more than once. And that's after a shower and clean clothes, and sanitizing my hands/arms before I even touch the nest box. Once they're a week old, I'll handle them more, but for now just a once-a-day peek has to suffice.

For a first time mom, she's doing awesome! She took care and pride in building her nest and lining it. And she makes sure they're well covered when she's done feeding them. Pretty amazing watching nature work, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching it.

Oh, thats great! Its good that you're taking every precaution before handling them; and once their eyes open and they have lots of fur, they'll be a little more safe.

Hopefully by then the young ones that are currently sick are back to normal or no longer with us. They look really good...nice, plump tummies, well covered. Now if their mother would just mellow out a bit. LOL
