I have an older motorola cell phone, the flip phone type.

It was given to me by a friend so between her kids teething on it, my dogs chewing on it and an encounter with a flemish giant... its rough!

I went to Wal Mart and bought one of the $14 Motorola go phones and Im trying to switch the SIM card over.

I think Im putting it in the new phone right. If I put it in the other way it says Insert SIM.

Had a friend from Springfield call me on the new phone using the old phone number. Phone rang (I didnt know how to answer it though) so aparrantly it works

BUT

I cant find ANY of my phone numbers (I need) in the new phone but if I put the old SIM card back in the old phone I can find them.

Can someone help me?

Last ditch option I can put the new SIM in the new phone but then I'll have a mess trying to re-insert tons of much needed numbers into thenew one.

Am I missing some simple step?

Could it be, that the numbers are actually stored onto your old phone, rather than the SIM card? If so, look up your phone make and model online- if you look on the Motorola website, they'll have support pages for it, and probably a 'map' showing the menu functions and how to transfer the numbers from the phone memory and copy them onto the SIM card.

If not.... well, I'm not so sure! I can have a look online for you if you post the model number of your phone! :)

You have to save your address book to the sim card.. right now it's just saved to the phone..

Save all your contact numbers in the SIM Card Memory. So when you transfer you sim Card to the new phone all you have to do is copy the sim card contact numbers to you phone memory. By the way some phones doesn' t require that. They access both sim card memory or you can set which memory to use.

Transfer by bluetooth, infrared also works of course you have to find a temporary sim card for the one the phones.

Download all your contact number from phone to pc via cable connection and do the reverse on the new phone.

Some providers allow you space to save contact numbers and retrieve them via menu services in the sim is also worth looking into.

Its expensive but would also work if you also have a new subscription/number and new sim send your contacts number via sms.

I *think* I have it figured out. I just saved everything to SIM instead of "phone".

We'll see what happens.
