I just got my new bunny today, and he's been eating out of a constantly full bowl of pellets ever since before we got him. I would like to: one, switch him to oxbow pellets, and two, reduce his amount to about a 1/2 cup. I'm not sure where to start, I don't know if I can cut his food down right to the half cup immediately because I have no clue how much he actually eats daily. I'm also not sure if I should be reducing and changing the pellets at once or one at a time.

Does he have timothy hay? If so, I would reduce and change the pellets at the same time. You can follow this chart (see picture). As you change the pellets, gradually remove them by a tablespoon until he is getting 4 tbs per day (1/4 cup per day). He should not be getting 1/2 cup per day because that is most likely too much. What breed is he?

Yes he has timothy hay, and he's a holland lop. I was planning on reducing to 1/4 cup until I got concerned that it might not be enough because he's a little on the bigger side, but I'm guessing it's just a little bit of extra flub from snacking on so many pellets. I'm glad you told me 1/4 would be better for him, thanks for the help!

He is around two years old. His new pellets probably won't be here for another few days so he'll have some time to adjust.
