I'm taking Shades to the vet next week and will be taking Cappy along. I've never taken the both of them at the same time but after the last episode I will now. I will need to drop them off at 9am and pick up at 4pm. The car ride will be at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours. During the car ride, should I put them both in the same carrier? Also during the ride home, should I take another carrier and separate them? Shades will be having her incisor removed and if she's in any pain, I'm afraid she may not have patience with her sister.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My opinion is to definitely take them to the vet together. It's a long car ride and bonded buns tend to seek comfort from each other when stressed like in a car.

Because Shades and Cappy had such a negative experience post last time's vet visit separation, put them together in the same carrier post-op and wait maybe 10 or 15 minutes. If no violence breaks out, go ahead and drive home. The stress of being in the car may seal the deal for you even if they were feeling upset about smelling different.

Bring a 2nd carrier *just in case* serious action starts happening on the car ride home. You can prob just pull over and put one of the girls in the 2nd carrier if necessary.
