It's SO weird! Last year on the last cutting it was so scarce for everyone up here. We got a whole 24 bales of hay from 10 acres. We ran so low in the past few weeks! Horses go through a lot of hay if they aren't on grass especially! We keep Pokie limited because she gets a grass belly.

This year, 1st cutting was late because of there haven't been enough dry days in a row to cut, dry and then bale the hay.

My son helped cut, ted and bale last week. THey put the hay in a big indoor arena because they didn't have time to put it up in the barn. Last night, he and another guy stacked while my BIL put the hay up in the loft with a hay hooker thing (it grabs 4 bales at a time and he can lay them up there).....

The barn is full. There are THREE big wagons left! and we'll get at least another 1 or 2 cuttings this year!

Send some my way! Most of our local drowned in the flooding. I was too late in buying a huge ammount I found for sale so I'm back to the drawing board.

OMG! Leaf! my father inlaw and niece left for Oklahoma this morning! If I had known, I'd have sent you a couple of bales with them! Everyone up here has a ton! Some have alfalfa but the fields at SIL's house are probably 95% grass, and a tiny bit of clover with a bit of alfalfa (it's needing reseeded for alfalfa!) so it's really good bunny hay! It's not like Oxbow but it's nice! and Tony, and Clover prefer it over Oxbow. Bo is more..... a namebrand kinda bunny! :rollseyesI have no doubt he'd shop at Macey's.

I'd imagine the bales are about 70# or so. I can lift them but it's not easy - I'll have to ask my son. It would be horrendous to ship it.

If I hear of anyone going that way again, I'll send some!

I wish I could. THere are still 2 big and 2 smaller hay wagons full sitting in the indoor arena!
