Hello! I posted yesterday about Teddy's brushing difficulties and I have come to the grim realization that the problem is way worse then I thought. He has multiple bald spots, and is very matted on his hindquarters. I spent a good hour around the day brushing him and getting the smaller mats out, but his butt is still very matted. Would it be a good idea to just find a rabbit savvy vet or groomer and get him shaved fully so I can start fresh? I feel horrible, I've prided myself in feeling like I'm better than people who just get a fuzzy rabbit and ignore them but I'm not. I'm especially worried about his tail, as it is greatly matted. Please- any advice would be more than amazing, and I really want to know where to go from here. Thank you all <3

Here are the worst areas. Please! If there is anything anyone knows that can help please let me know. As in things to do here, or something a vet can do, regrardless of price

Yes, having a rabbit vet or qualified groomer with rabbit experience clip a rabbits coat is definitely a viable option if matting is an issue. For future prevention, if you still find brushing difficult, is to invest in a pet blower. Some long haired rabbit owners keep their rabbits coat well groomed by blowing the coat out with a blower. Though of course the rabbit needs to be carefully desensitized to the blower so as to not overreact and freak out when it's used. So does need to be done with appropriate training and caution.

Thank you. I found a groomer and they shaved him. I will look into a pet blower
