Man oh man is itscary here tonight! We are having a major ice storm. It's been freezingrain off and on since yesterday and straight throughsincenoon today. It sounds like huge fireworks and thundercrashes outside. It's really eerie. I'velost most of my 2oyear old. 80' tall cottonwood tree out back and a good part of my bigmaple in the front. The neighbor had to call tree people to come cuthis tree down off my house, in the dark, freezing rain....I won't evenlet the kids go in the south side of the house because if the rest ofthe cottonwood comes down that's where it will hit. There is an goodinch of ice coatedaround the diameter of these branches. There are power linesdown, fires everywhere...it'sfreaky....Not supposed to be over for another 24 hours and even thensupposed to be followed by snow.

so thats where the ice storms went too..generally they are in my area and my mum's area, but it's rainy andmuddy here.. go figure.. wishing the best that your storm isover soon with little mishap..

Oh dear, Raspberry, My hubby is in Northern Indiana working and they are expecting all of that.....

We are due to get a bit but not as much. I hope

You stay safe. We had a tree fall on our house when we had an ice storm before.... very scary :(

I heard about that. I guess they are getting icestorms up north in Missouri also. I just hope it doesn't decided tocome down here. It's scary enough driving down here without the ice. However I think we are in the clear, because it's going to be in the50-70's all week, with the exception of one day in the high 30's. :?

I wish you the best of luck however, and that everything clears up for you.

Snowing and blowing like crazy here.Wind blowing the snow against my face really hurt when I was out doingchores. Forecast is for about 9 inches on the ground bymorning, and then they are talking about another 3 on top of thatbefore tomorrow night! My biggest fear is losing electricityout here. I have nothing then. I filled a 32 gallongarbage container with water down in the basement so I would at leasthave water for the dogs, cats, rabbits, and the geese. I HATEwinter!

Yeah DoloresI think that those peopledown in Kanses are sending it our way. I heard on the news thatsomebody in arkansas hoped it wouldnt go down there so now we have it.;)Just kidding. I am thankfull that we havent had more badstorms like this. This part of the state is soppose to have 16 inchesand it has been rainining for the last couple of days so there is iceunder neath of it.

Also watch out for ice cicles that might fall. That was a major problem with a ice storms we had a couple of years ago.

The last ice storm we had like that was about 6years ago and I hope I never see another one. I'll say aprayerthat it passes quickly!!

Oh Raspberry, I know how scary sitting through anice storm is! In January '98 there was a terrible ice storm in theNortheast. I remember sitting up one night listening to all of thetrees falling everywhere and having the power flicker on an off. Wewere lucky, our power stayed on, but most of the Northern VT was w/outpower for five days.

Also, when the storm started I was just coming out of a movie theatre,it was just a drizzle and the roads looked wet...I didn't know it wasice. Needless to say, in the middle of a crosswalk on a VERY busyintersection in the heart of downtown Burlington, yours truly slippedand fell flat on her butt. My legs even flipped up. My pride was hurtmore than anything, and I have to say, thank god one of my bestattributes is being able to laugh at myself. When one is as klutzy as Iam, you need to!

Ice storms are scary especially if you live in the house. In apartment it feels safer. I hope it will calm down soon.

Hello Raspberry,

We just got word that our distribution center in Hebron lost it's phone system due to the icestorm.

You guys hunker down and stay safe.

We're getting some snow right now, and it's suppose to get worse later on with ice and all.

Thoughts and prayers sent your way

Jim

You and yours were the first ones I thought of when I woke up, Raspberry.

I'm hoping you hold onto your electricity.

When we got the hurricanes,we lost a papaya tree that we were really looking forward to gettingfruit from :(. And a big tree fell down (not on top of the house) butwe got it up. We also lost power for like a week :X. And when we losepower we don't get water , so we had to take showers at afriends house. I hope the weather clears up for you soon!:)

We had an ice storm over the weekend. You couldn't even walk the sidewalks to get to your car and every storein town ran out of sidewalk salt. It was horrible.

We don't have the 9 inches on the ground thismorning like was forecast...more like 4, maybe. ThankGod! But it is still snowing right along, and the wind hasalready made some good sized drifts out in the yard. Snowplow just went by on the road, but even tho I think I could probablyget out of my yard, I'm not going anyplace. With the new snowcoming down last evening, the highways were getting slick on my wayback home here. We had freezing rainprior to this, and none of it had a chance to melt off, so everythinghas this coating of ice on it yet. The ice on the powerlines, along with wind, is what could be the undoing of theelectricity.

I hate it when the ice takes down trees! It takes sooo longfor a tree to grow and become beautiful, but only a minute to lose it!

I don't want to lose my electricity either... or my Internet connection! :(
GOD FORBID! If I lose my Internet I'mquite sure everyone in the house will find somewhere else to go! The implication has always been that I become quitegrumpy without my computer....
