Does anyone know if rabbits are unlikely to get ticks, or are they as likely as any other pets like dogs?

We just discovered that our dog needs to be dipped for ticks. We have to get our house sprayed (inside & out) too on the same day. We've never before had to deal with ticks so it is all new to us.

My concern is that my rabbits are indoors and free range all day. So they share the same space as the dog. I have pet the rabbits and felt around the ears and neck especially, but haven't felt anything.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I don't know if I need to do anything with the rabbits at the same time that the dog and house are done.

Yes rabbits can get ticks just as easily, as just about every other animal :)

Revolution should cover it.

Ahh. I didn't realize that could work for ticks too.
I guess I'll call my rabbit vet (different from the dog vet) and find out proper dosage.

Hmm..does that need a prescription? I'll have to see where I can pick some up.

Revolution isn't really labeled for ticks in the US but it's the best thing for ticks that's safe to use in rabbits that I know of (basically they didn't run the testing on it for ticks in the US so it's not labeled as such).
It does require a prescription but often times your vet will prescribe it if they've seen your rabbit before without necessarily having an exam done that day. Definitely discuss the products you're using on your dogs and in your house as well as not all parasiticies are rabbit safe (e.g. frontline/fipronil) and you'll want to be careful!

Yes, good precaution. I'll be sure to ask the pest guy when he comes tomorrow.

Interestingly, I called the rabbit vet today and he said that ticks on dogs seldom go to rabbits. The ticks apparently don't like the taste of rabbits. He didn't think I needed to use anything on them at this point.
