I have a female spayed mini lop for about four months now. She has proved to be quite a test on my patience but I'm really trying my best to keep her. She has started thumping loudly in her cage either in the middle of the night or early in the morning. I cant figure out what would be bothering her so much and I need help to make her stop. Once she starts her thumping fits she wont stop even when given food. I usually have to put her outside in her carrier until she calms down. She doesnt do it everyday but its at least once a week. Anyone else have this problem?

Is she near a window? Birds and wildlife going past can freak a bunny out and make her thump to warn you of danger. If so, close all windows and curtains in her room, or cover the top of her cage. Putting in a small cosy "hidey house" in her cage may also help.

Another possibility is that because you let her out every time she thumps, she's learned to thump whenever she's bored and wants to be let out. Being stuck in a cage all night can be very boring, and you've taught her that nonstop thumping = outside playtime! Get her some toys and chews to occupy herself with in her cage, or consider making some renovations to add a second story or a tunnel to keep things interesting. And then ignore her when she thumps, don't give her anything, not even attention, to break the habit.
