Next weekend I will be building Harper is brand new NIC cage, YAY!!!

http://princessblackie.homestead.com/

Scroll all the way down. There will be 2 pictures, one of a taller cage, one of a shorter cage. The first picture of the bigger cage is the exact cage I want to build Harper! Now, I just have to find a place to get all the supplies (except for the panel, of course. Those are coming from Target).

They said something about putting Plexiglass in there... i don't see the Plexiglass. Is that what they made the shelves out of? Hmmm...

Anyone who has an NIC cage, please reply with some idea's of how you built your shelves and how you attached them. Harper is a 5 pound chunky bunny, I want to make sure it supports his weight. And the weight of two bunnies for when I get him a friend.

I used Coroplast to cover the girls' shelves and bottom, but I used pegboard (pressboard)for the boys' shelves. I cut it to fit the shelf and just layed it on top of the grids. The pegboard has holes, so you could use zipties to hold it in, but I didn't have to.

I used the pegboard "rough side up" and it gives them plenty of traction. I also put it on their ramps. It's cheap and cleans up easily. I love it.

Yay! I'm done the fram for Pebbles cage (4 long, x 3 wide, by 2 tall with a 3 grid shelf on the end). I just have to re-inforce with zip ties, cut the coroplast, get soem cardbaord for shelf, and of course put the little princess in ;).

I should post some pictures :D.

As soon as I recharge my camera battery and load it, I'll make a thread with pictures :D. I still don't like the deisgn completely, so I have to play around with it.

There is a "Cages Only" thread here somewhere with lots of pics.

I don't really have good cage pics, but you can see in this one how I did the pegboard shelf. It fits nice and snug and doesn't shift.

Now that Toby gets "messy butt", I cover the pegboard with a pillow case and wash as necessary.

If I built it myself, I wonder where I could find the chloroplast base from? Or the plastic shelves like they are using...

Coroplast is very easy to find. You can look at most building supply stores and they'll have them. I found mine at home depot. The actual name is corrugated plastic, so maybe ask for that? It was fairly cheap $20 for a huge sheet.

I'll post pictures in a few hours.. I have to go back out in a bit

Hi, we have two cages side by side for the two lovebirds Jackie & Wilbur.

The long story short. They were bonded, then were not for a few months. We ended up buildingthe second cage as they were living in two small cages because we didn't think it was fair for one to have the big cage.

Well the day we finished building the second cage they became boyfriend & girlfriend again. So now they have two cages.

Soooska :apollo:

Here's my cage. Kind of all white, but it fits the white room of the bunny room. Here's some pictures. Sorry if they are small, I didn't want to expand your thread with huge pictures :D.

It was very easy to make, although the connecters made my hands hurt so I spread the connecting over two days. It's only one floor with a shelf, so not too interesting :D. I wanted it to be able so I could actually go in there and play inside the cage. It allows me to step over and sit in the cage :D.I still have to put a roof over the shelf, do something with the coroplast, maybe make a door and decorate it with toys. :)
