I am still tied to this, as the 14 year old was a kid sister of mine years ago, but I moved to Kentucky over a year ago. My best friend has been trying to stay as a neutral zone, as for she's still in the town, but she finally gave up.

I am certainly glad that I followed my gut instincts, I didn't like Roy from the first time I saw him.

From the Post Star November 30, 2010:

"The trial of an Argyle man who was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a child was postponed Monday after he shot himself, police said.

Roy G. Gamble, 50, of Harper Road was to stand trial in Washington County Court beginning Monday on a 14-count indictment felony that accuses him of sexually abusing and attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl.

Instead, he wound up in Albany Medical Center late Sunday with a gunshot wound to the abdomen that police believe was self-inflicted, Washington County Sheriff Roger Leclaire said.

The shot from the .30-06 caliber rifle grazed him and he was not seriously injured, and he remained in the hospital as of early Tuesday, police said.

Leclaire said Gamble had called a relative to tell her he planned to harm himself, which led to police finding him along Towpath Road in Kingsbury.

The rifle he used appeared to be illegally modified and Gamble may face an additional charge for possessing it, the sheriff said. The Washington County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the matter to determine whether any additional charges are warranted.

District Attorney Kevin Kortright said the rifle appears to have had both its barrel and stock sawed off. He said his office has discussed a possible federal weapons charge with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

"There is an investigation going on and it looks like there will be additional charges," he said.

Gamble faces felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, second-degree criminal sexual act and attempted second-degree rape in connection with the teenage girl. The trial has been postponed indefinitely.

An arrest warrant was issued for him for failing to show up for court on Monday, officials said.

His lawyer, Washington County Assistant Public Defender Christian Morris, could not be reached for comment early Tuesday."

It's just wrong. I heard about it last night when the 14 year old(Who was my horse back riding buddy and my rabbit show buddy) texted me and needed someone to talk to. I told her ot call me anytime and if I was at work, I would call back and leave her a message on my breaks.

But at this point, I have to ask, what else can I do to help her? I want to do more, but being 18 hours away isn't helpful. She can't leave the state due to this trial and I don't have the vacation time to go and see her, little less someone to take care of my horses and rabbits while I am gone.

All you can do hon is listen and give her a shoulder to cry on. Sometimes it helps for victims to just know they have someone to talk to.
