She says it's urgent, and I'd much rather take the bun in for awhile until I can find a good home with someone rather then her putting the bun in a shelter or worse. If I take her in and shelter, is anyone interested in adoption, pref. someone in NC or close by? I can keep the bun for awhile if you need to make preps or for any other reasons. I sent her an email letting her know the foster info. I also asked her what she was planning to do if she couldn't find a home for the bun.

Anyone interested?

Honestly? Sounds like the poor bunny is getting dumped for a puppy.Where can she be moving that she can have a dog but not a rabbit? Sheesh. :(

I'd be inclined to keep a close eye on the situation, but there are probablyneedier buns in thearea shelters.

If the person surrenders the rabbit to a shelter, you can work with a rescue on getting her out with the benefit of having a discounted vet fee to get her spayed. And maybe the person ditching her will (rightly so) pay a rehoming fee rather than charge one.

sas :(

I agree with Pipp. Have you found a rescue to sponser her that you'd foster through, or are you meaning you could take her in with the intent to rehome?

I think all rabbits are important but (IMO) with all of the Craigs List postings - the rabbits in immediate danger of being killed are being overlooked in shelters.

Chances are someone on CL may take the rabit in, or they will continue to keep it until something happens to their liking.

By getting rabbits out of immediate danger in shelters you're more apt to make a difference in more lives than just one - by saving ont that would have been euthanized, by opening a space for one needing to go up for adoption and by showing facilities that people DO care about rabbits - so they continue to work with them at all.

Well the only problem with having buns and friends is friends that send you links to things like that. >.< My friend was being well meaning, but she just made me worry about the poor bun, :(. I don't live in WS, but my bf's family does and we go there every other weekend or so, which is why my friend sent it to me, >.< The Chapel Hill shelter rarely has buns, and I let them know I'd be availiable for fostering any time they would need me.

The thing I've noticed since becoming a bunny mother is that you suddenly realize how bad the world can be for rabbits. Before I only thought about homeless dogs and cats, I never thought it would be a big deal for rabbits. And I think this is what most people think. Even some who buy rabbits, the ones who don't research their animals. And now because I'm thinking about it, I want to save every bun out there. :(

She hasn't sent me a reply... which has me wondering, but if I get one, I'm going to find out where she'll be taking the bun. Maybe instead of fostering the way I was originally thinking, I can foster through the CH animal shelter, so the bun can be spayed and they can help find her a GREAT home.

Thanks for the tips guys, :)
