My mini Rex Shirley has had a bare tail, thin fur on her back and neck, and some missing fur on her feet since I got her. She is happy and otherwise healthy, and has a lot of energy. I read a bit about it, but I'm not sure if I should worry about mites because the fur on her tail is coming back. I don't have pictures because she never sits still; sorry about that. Tell me if I should worry about mites. I can't take her to the vet because our vet doesn't work with bunnies and the nearest bunny vet is expensive, I will only use them if I really need to. Any advice would be helpful thanks.

Is there any irritation, flaking, or brown specks on the skin? Does your rabbit seem to be scratching a lot?

If you think your rabbit may have mites you could dose with Revolution- you have to buy it from the vets for large cat - then you have to measure out the dose in a syringe-- this is a video that has chart for revolution doses for rabbits. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyqNwCCRSq8[/ame]

Also, just want to add- There is a kind of fur mite which causes fur loss but doesn't really irritate the skin much but you might see flaking- so if your rabbits losing fur but skin seems and there is flakes it could be that and Revolution would work.

Or, if skin seems fine the rabbit is losing fur in round patches could also have ring worm which is a fungus and needs a different treatment.

That fur mite thing could be the problem. She is not uncomfortable. I don't think she's got ringworm because they are not round patches.
