We finally have our first litter of "purebred" mini rex bunnies! We have so far had 4 litters (before this one), three were mini rex/Holland lop cross. We have had a few requests for the mixed breed. But now that they have all been sold and are being picked up this week, I wont breed anymore of the mix.
Bubbles' first litter was mini rex/Holland lop. She had 4 healthy little ones, although 1 passed away a couple months after it went to her new home. I rebred her in the middle of December of this year, and she ate the kits' ears and one kits' feet and ears . So, I was a little nervous to rebreed her since that happened, but figured we would give it a try anyways, since it may have been something that scared her or something I don't know.
Well, she started nesting yesterday afternoon. I only checked her once more before I went to bed lastnight. When I woke up this morning, she had a beautiful nest built. It was perfect, except it was beside the nest box again. I don't think this girl likes the nest box. Maybe we need to make the sides shorter for her. Well, I got the nest moved to the nest box and then checked kits. I was nervous to look at them. But, I took them all out, and there 5 healthy, plump, wriggly little kits. I am so happy and excited now!!
I didn't take any pictures,I wanted to leave her alone for a while, it was a bit chilly in the garage..so I turned the heat up . So now, I just wait until later this afternoon so I can snap a few pics.
To me it looks like there will be two tan colored kits and three broken white guys. Cant wait!!
