I've already introduced my three girls, but why not open a blog for them, too? :D Queen Heather, Lady Bracken and Princess Thistle really are treat like bunny royalty. They came from the shelter to live with me on July 2nd, 2006, after living there for a couple of months in a cat kennel.

They're not as tame as they could be, but in the short time they've been with me they've already improved - I get bunny noses nudging my feet whenever I'm on the computer, and Thistle will actually run towards me when I walk into their room - then she'll dart off and be silly ;)

Here are some pics of them on their first day with me.

Queen Heather munching away.

Bracken getting curious; I was sitting on the floor with my laptop to let them get used to me - I found out later that she'd chewed through the cable for my mouse!

Bracken being a very brave bunny and jumping onto the keyboard in my lap...

Very cute Bunnies. How lucky for them you brought all three of them home.

We also have a "Princess" Jackie and a "Dutchess" Daisy Mae of Ajaxand two boys that don't have a title Wilbur and Buttercup.

Aren't Bunny people just the best. LOL. I'm sure my family & friends think were are nuts the way we talk to all of our babies.

Lovely buns, BTW. It looks like they really struck gold coming home with you!
I didn't manage to get her when she had her whole head over the top watching me, but I think the ears are cute enough! :p

Bunny people really are the best!

The girls are starting to realise that when I come into the room something 'good' is going to happen... I either bring them a treat or they get their free time... the first time their cage was open I had to actually lift them out - today they were waiting for me and Thistle was out in a flash!

I lay on the floor with them holding some millet, and I managed to get both Bracken and Thistle to eat from my hand, which is god progress! Thistle, however, seemed more interested in my bracelets, particularly my wooden bead one; she decided it was great fun to grab a bead and watch it ping back onto my wrist!

Bracken and Heather, as usual, went to terrorize my budgies... they've taken a liking to budgie seed! The budges are in a cage on the floor at the minute before their proper cage comes, and they like to kick seed everywhere. The bunshave decided that they like it, and so they hoover it all up! The budgies get free flying time too, though they don't always like to come out of the cage. I left their cage door open and rather than budgies coming out, bunnies went in - AND they stole the budgies' millet! Needless to say, I've got eight grumpy birds :p Heather even stole some through the side of the cage today; a tiny twig of it was sticking out so she decided to grab and pull...

Oh, how I love bunny antics! :D

My kind of bun! Have you given them noisy toys yet? Like baby keys or plastic cat toys? Thistle might like playing with those with you. My Sprite loves it when I fetch her noisy toys for her.;)

They've not got any toys yet, other than a few toilet rolls with hay in them, which Heather enjoys playing with. When they're out of the cage, there are a couple of large plastic water bottles that they like to nose around.

I think Thistle's angry with me at the minute, because I cuddled her last night. She wouldn't relax, so I think it's going to take a bit longer before she's a happy cuddly bun...

I don't know if I mentioned the other members of my animal family? I've got eight budgies who share a room with my bunnies. I don't think they're overly impressed with my fluffy friends... the rabbits like to 'clean up' after the birds, who like to kick their seed everywhere on the floor around their cage! In go the bunnies like little hoovers and suck it all up! Both bunnies and budgies love their millet, and if there's any within reach of bunny lips inside the budgie cage, they'll have it out of their in a flash! I let my birds have free-flying time, which means that their cage is open, and both Heather and Thistle have been 'exploring' inside the bird cage :bunnybutt: - they seem to like it, but they get some real dirty looks from the birds! :p

The same day that I brought my bunnies home I also got five dwarf hamsters. Since then two have passed away (one just this morning), and I've had to seperate one from the other two because I believe it was him who killed at least one of the two who died (the one who died this morning was badly mutilated). I know hamsters can be cannibalistic when one of them dies, but I've watched Nutmeg bullying the others and think it's for the best, as he's much bigger than Jack Sparrow and Pewter, the other two. He's now living in a 10 gallon plastic tub in my bunny room, and the girls have all been over to say hi to him! (His tub is up on a shelf out of bunny reach, but I've got it on the floor while I'm in here so that I can watch him).

I've also got one betta, called Flamenco :)

Heather decided it was time to redecorate the hutch today, and proceeded to drag all of the hay from their nest box out into the upstairs space. She was covered in it from head to foot! :p It's a shame I didn't get any pics of her, because she looked so cute...

As far as taming is concerned, they're coming on in leaps and bounds :) Bracken was even bold enough to come sit on my lap and be fed! She's such a little sweetheart, whereas Thistle's a little brat and Heather's just large and in charge :D Heather's also getting to be huge... she does nothing but eat! She's the first one to the food and the last to leave!

I'm way overdue for an update!

Well, I mentioned in another post (I think?) about rescuing a bunny anda guinea pig; well, I've still got them! I just couldn't part withthem... Duke Dandelion (the bunny) and Sir Burdock (the piggie) arejust too cute! I've still not neutered Dandy yet, so the pair of themare living in my hallway. They've come on amazingly well - Piggles isstill a little shy around me, but Dandy's a right little pest - helikes watching me change by sticking his head into my bedroom!

I got home one day and as I was parking the car I noticed somethingdart underneath the car next to me. It didn't move like a cat, so I gotdown to check - and, lo and behold, there was a little baby rabbitsitting there! It took me about two weeks of trying every night tocatch her, but then at the end of August I finally managed to get her!So, now Baroness 'Baby' Bramble lives with me :D

Here's her on the day I caught her - poor baby was starving! She's veryloving... and fearless, too! She loves sitting on my shoulder as sheeats, and likes giving me 'kisses' (nudging her nose up against mycheeks or lips). She's an absolute doll :D

I love that pic of Dandy! And yes, you were way overdue!;)

Congrats on rescuing the Baronness! She's very cute and it'sawesome that she likes to give kisses. She must understandwhat you did for her.

It was an absolute nightmare catching her! :pThe first night I sat there with some lettuce leaves and my carry box, hoping to entice her in without me having to touch her so as not tostress her out - no luck, she ran away.

The second night, I thought I'd try to grab her; again, no luck, andwhereas the night before she had been eating out of my hand, now shewouldn't.

So I had to build the trust up again after that, and I didn't want totry grabbing her. Every night I'd go sit outside with her for an houror so until she went away, and she'd start eating from my hand... thenone night, I was sitting on the steps and she came right up to me, andI figured I may as well try again to catch her - I think I was moreshocked than she was when I actually got my hand around her (yes, shewas that tiny!). She barely struggled and I was expecting her toscream, but she didn't; I just took her inside, she kept on eating, andshe snuggled right into me and just lay there on my tummy while Iwatched TV! She's definitely a snuggle-bunny.

So now I'm a bunny down, with with Dandelion no longer being with me :( It's so hard to make that awful decision.

My girls are as lovely and boisterous as ever; poor Bracken was lookinga right mess, with her coat all over the place! I had to sit her downfor two hours to pull her fur - and it was still coming out after that!I got two and a bit BIG handfuls of fluff from her! I wish I knewsomeone who can spin wool, and I'd get bunny wool made from it all :)She's so soft and silky (and so good-looking now that her fur's all onelength!). She was very good while I did it, too - she didn't try toescape, she didn't even try to nip me when she'd had enough; I was veryproud of my baby girl.

It'll be Heather's turn next. I wonder if she'll be as good? I doubt it! :p

I keep thinking about getting another bunny to replace Dandelion. It'shard not to rush out to try and find one, it really is... but I need tofind out what I'm going to do with Piggles first. While Heather,Bracken and Baby are fine with him, Thistle really doesn't like him, soI'm going to have to try and work the two of them together to see ifthey can get along. It's so sad seeing him by himself, he's so lonely! He's actually coming to me for attention, which is a first.

Maybe I'll get another bun. We'll see how things go.

Introducing.... Lupin and Willow, the newest members of the Royal Bunny Family! :D

They're keeping Piggles company at the minute. He's so happy to havesomeone there to boss around! ;) Willow loves grooming him, and willoften hide behind him when I'm near - she's very shy and will only comeup to me if I've got food. I had a big break-through with her yesterdaythough, when I was patting the floor and she came running over! Lupin,on the other hand, is very brave; she'll come clambering up my legs andnudging me with her nose. She's got a lovely bold personality, andsettled in straight away.

I love bunnies :D They're such gorgeous, loving, cuddly little babies! Little Juniper really loves being cuddled andgetting attention from me, which is nice because none of my other girlsreally care too much about being cuddled! Little Juni actually gave mekisses (my first bunny kisses from these girls!), and kisses on mymouth, too! She was so cute - first it felt like she was trying toshove her nose up my nostril (bizarre, very tickly), and then she justkept licking my lips ;) She's such a snuggly bun!

It seems like Baby's out of her teenager strop pahse, at leasttemporarily! She hopped up onto my today and didn't terrorize me bygrowling or anything... she even let me hold her for a while withouttrying to get down or struggling, which was good :D

Thistle seems to be getting more shy by the day... she doesn't seem askeen to come up and see me at all since I had to clip her nails lastmonth. For some reason she had two really long nails that didn't seemto be wearing down (well, admittedly there's not much for them to weardown on, but none of the others seem to get nails that long), so I hadto clip them down and she didn't like it... she's not keen at all onbeing handled, bless her!

Sir Piggles is living with Lupin, Willow andJuniper, and the four of them get along really well! Piggles is thedominant one in the group, and likes to asset his dominance - evenlittle Lupin gives in to him! :p
