So if anyone has been following the Peace story, they would know about all the troubles we have been having with Peace (I actually plan to post a full thread of exactly what he's gone through, for future references for anyone else who gets a bunny with an abcess) and finally, FINALLY, we reached the point where the beads are out of his leg, the stitches have been removed and there is no more bandages! I think we are just as relieved as Peace is.

However, not all the news we got was great.

The vet was searching over his leg and found something that was one of three possibilities.

1. A slight sore hock that has a bit of a bump to it.

2. A part of his leg that has been irritated by the bandage and thus caused a lump.

3. The abcess is returning.

I know that rabbits with abcesses often have them return but the thought of it coming back to Peace so soon (ESPECIALLY after JUST getting him out of all the stitches and bandaging and sleepless nights and scares he has put us through) make me sick to my stomach.

So, what is the possibility of it coming back so soon when the vet said not 2 weeks ago that everything appeared to be gone and we may just be in the clear?

Has anyone had experience with this before?

From what I understand, yes, it is possible that the abscess is returning. The one time I dealt with an abscess, it appeared suddenly overnight.:(
