tatoo numbers

fiona has a tatoo on her ear, but got dumped at our rescue. how would i find the breeder by using that number? i am curious as to why she was dumped.

also, we have goten about four harlequins in, so we think a breeder might be getting rid of them, and i am curious to know.

It is pretty much impossible to trace a rabbit by it's tatoo number. Hundreds of rabbits can have the same tattoo number. The breeder tattoos them with whatever they want. You could try contacting harlequin breeders in your area and they might know how another harlequin breeder makes up their tattoos

Some breeders use traceable systems, but as Roger said, tattoos can be difficult to track because many breeders use random number or lettering systems.

Just remember that it may not have been the breeder that dumped the rabbits. They may have sold them to a different breeder or whomever.

Its a shot in the dark, but you could join and post on show bunny list (http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/ShowBunnyList/?yguid=250361585).

Give specifics on the breed, tattoo, location, age, anything...

I know if one of my rabbits ended up at a shelter I'd want to know. I'd prefer to take an animal back instead of having it end up homeless.
