Sweetpea
broke his back Wednesday night (July 6th, 2011) which left him crippled.
After he finished seizing he couldn't get up. This catastrophic event
has left him unable 2 toilet; feed or drink without constant care. I
have been giving him teensy dishes of food/water under his nose. He's
been placed in newborn diapers. But now he's becoming despondent. He's
been biting & pulling at his fur/limbs if he can reach them. Not
good. I am coddling him in his final hours. He's had an active,
peaceable life of domestic living. He's a creature of nature; going back
to the earth. ♥♥♥
These couple of photo's depict his final
hours; minutes before heading to the vet to be
euthanized. What I had hoped was paraplegia caused by a stroke (but
inwardly felt otherwise) was in fact a spinal fracture causing immediate severe pain
& shock with partial paralysis (waist down)...he couldn't live like this, would need constant care
& pain medication. No medical dialogue on aggressive therapy to rejuvenate
him. He tried so hard over those 5 days...vet didn't confirm if he had
much pain after the paralysis set in. I presumed he had to have had pain; guilted cause I'd moved
him about so much bending him too & fro diapering & wiping & trying to sit him up thinking it would be good for the muscles having NO IDEA of the severity of his injury...now he's at rest, no pain-no infirmity.
RIP Sweetpea July 11th, 2011. You were a faithful pet for nearly 9 years...I brought you home as a babe in my arms, & laid you to rest
as an elder bun in a shoe box releasing you from my arms back to the earth that you came from. I miss you forever & always.
