I recently replied to ad add for a bunny. Apparently the person was allergic. They wanted $40 but "would go lower". I contacted them. Asked various questions but they would not tell me where they got her or how long they had had her. She said they would go $25 and she would only come with food and a water bottle. I replied a bit ago asking for pictures.

So now I am thinking they are lying/hiding something. How can you not remember where you got it? Nor have a rough estimation of how long the rabbit has been with you, living in your house? What about her cage/toys/ect?

Does anyone else think they just had a rabbit give to them/found and are trying to make money? Seems to weird to me.

That is really strange. How do you not even know an estimate on how long you have had the rabbit. I mean is it years, months, or days? I am not sure what I think the reason is that they don't know any of this. It is very very strange. Even if they found the rabbit and are trying to make money wouldn't they atleast make something up? Run to take some pictures of the bunny they could send you? Very strange. I agree with you that I am worried about that rabbit.

If you do decide to get the rabbit be very careful. Something is not right here but I don't know what it is. I would be overly cautious with these people about giving them your information and where you meet them. I wouldn't write them a check with your address, I would pay in cash. I am sure I am being paranoid but there is something really strange about this. Keep us updated.

I would be meeting them 2 hours away so I am not worried about me, I am worried what is actually going on with the rabbit. I do not want to pay them for possibly mistreating the rabbit or getting is free but I do not want to leave it.

Lets just see what they reply to my email. They have a weird name on their email, too.

And check the 'lost' ads and maybe put in a call to the SPCA or Humane Society -- although the priority is still the welfare of the bunny, so even if it's stolen, you're out $20 (I'd only offer them $20) but the bunny will be safe.

That is it, pla725. Yep. When I replied before I told them I could not agree to take the rabbit and pay for it without seeing pictures. That I did not have enough information on her to be able to agree to it.

I am just waiting to see what they say. They are sure jumping down in price, I mean why say $40, will go lower, and then tell me they will go way lower their their asking price and price her to me for $25. I could get a baby rabbit with less history from a petstore in lexington for that price.

I can easily get a rabbit around here for $4, but I do not wish to support the money breeders. I could also pay $25 for a baby from a breeder who shows but I am not really looking for another rabbit. I just... I don't know - am here to help if needed I guess.

I would have 3 other people with me, and we would be meeting at a petstore so very public.

lol i like how they spelled solid like "soild" does that mean the rabbit is dirty? lol. Anyways, good luck and be very careful.

WHY DO PEOPLE POST ADDS IN ALL CAPS. BUNNIES DON'T LIKE SHOUTING.

:grumpy: I hate craigslist with a fiery passion. I've actually seen adds where the person was like, "This was an Easter present, but my kid got tired of it."

They really should make people take an IQ test before getting animals.

Keep us updated.

Make sure the bunny wasn't adopted from a rescue or shelter. Many of them have clauses in their adoption contracts that require you to give the animal back to that rescue or shelter should you decide you don't want it anymore (every one I've adopted from has). If a person doesn't want to give it back to the shelter or rescue they got it from, there must be a reason--perhaps they aren't treating it well and they think they can fool you into taking a bunny that they have mistreated/withheld medical care.

But Claire don't you think if they r being so fishy on all the other info that these ppl might not tell the truth on if they did get the bunny from a shelter of not???

Pip found out it is a 14 year old kid.

I talked to the only small animal rescue within all of kentucky that I know of and it is not one of theirs.

I am not going to get it, insted I am either adopting a pair of male guinea pigs from the same shelter I mentioned, or fostering a pregnant female guinea pig - depending on if the owner feels ok with letting me foster since I am so far away from their free vet. YAY
