So I just adopted Lulu a little while ago. She came with a "super pet XL cage". I believe this is exactly what it is:

Everyone elses cages are so huge, I'm starting to feel really guilty. Its about 40 inches long and 18 inches wide. My landlord would never allow me to have a NIC cage, it has to be a "real" pet cage.

Lulu gets time when I'm home to run around, eventually i'd like to allow her to be free range (my landlord wouldnt know about that obviously).

So in your HONEST opinion, is this just way to small for Lulu, even if she gets plenty of free time? Shes a lionhead (3 pound or less).

Can you get an xpen (or use NIC cubes to create one) and attach it to the outside of her cage? You could always fold it up and put it away if the landlord came over, but it could give her more than twice the room she has now.

I have the SP Giant cage with an xpen attached to the outside and I love it. It triples the space my bun has.

How much time does she spend in her cage?

I have a large X-pen, but its sorta huge and about the room anyway...so it sorta defeats the purpose. I have housemates so the bunny stays in my room. Unfortunately i'm pretty cramped for space

I would say she gets at least 4 hours a day. I'm a student, so I get home around 7 and let her run free until around 12. A few days a week she is out in the morning too.

Would it be possible to arrange your room so that you can attach the X-pen when you go off to class for the day, and let her out?
Then, when you come home, fold it away and let her roam free.

Every extra bit of space helps :)
