Every time I feed my hamster, my rabbit goes crazy, he does everything possible to make sure i drop a few sunflower seeds so that he can eat them. :grumpy:

Thing is, I have no idea if sunflower seeds are good for him. He seems to love them, and what's worst is that he eat it all, meaning with the shell included.

I need advice on what to do. Can I give him a few daily? Do I have to remove the shell first? If yes, how do I remove it?

Thanks.

Yes, a few sunflower seeds are fine for rabbits. I like to eat them too, but always buy ones that are shelled already. I would think eating the shells would be ok, though, just more fiber. But if you want to try some yourself, you just push on the shell with your finger to separate the 2 halves. If that doesn't work well, try scissors to cut off the tip of the shell first.

They're okay as treats....Q-tip likes to steal them from the bird...I let her do it periodically. She eats them with the shells, too. She likes the crunch.
