My English Lop is about 7 months old now, and has always been a real sweetheart. But about a week ago, I noticed some changes in her behavior. It was very sudden, and kind of threw me off guard.
She started making this little noises. At first I thought it was grunting (she has never been a rabbit that liked to grunt), but after looking at videos online, it seemed different. They sound pretty low, and sort of like "mmfs". I didn't think there was anything too strange about it. I just figured it was a new noise she discovered and wanted to play around with it.
She normally would pee all over my bed if I allowed her up on it, but she didn't when she came to visit me in my room. She just jumped up and started pouncing around on the bed and chewing on the covers, still making her little noises. She eventually just laid down on my chest and went to sleep. So I decided to let her sleep in my room at night, since she hadn't peed on the bed at all. Things were fine: no peeing on the covers, but she was jumping around on the bed ALL NIGHT LONG. She would come and sit on my pillow and lick my face, which when I was trying to sleep really started to annoy me, so I put my head under the covers. She freaked out and started digging at the covers until I pulled them off. Then she went back to licking my face.
When I went to push her off of my head, she started humping. I sat up so she would stop, and sort of pet her for a while until she went to sleep. I returned to sleep as well, and then it happened again a couple of times in the early morning. I brought her downstairs to my mom to tell her about it, and my mom got down on the floor and mimicked the noises the rabbit made, which made her attempt to hump at my mom's head.
I'm sure this is a dominance thing, but it just came on SO suddenly. I have two small dogs, and she's been trying to do it to them as well. One of them can get really aggressive and bites at her, so I don't want her to get hurt. Is there something I can do to sort of calm her down? I read about putting a stuffed toy in with them when they sleep, but I'm not sure if that will help her.
