My cat hunter (maybe I should change his name) just brought a baby cotton tail bunny through his cat door :shock:it's breathing really hard i had to smackhunter on the head to make him let go. what do i do?I put it in one of my rabbit carriers with water and haybutI really dont know if it is going to live. its tiny about the size of the four week old kits I have right now, poor thing.I am going to leave it alone for the night and hope it's still alive tomarrow. Fingers crossed :(

Did you check it for any injuries? he's probably scared to death.

clover gets all scared like that too even now. When she's like that I just leave her be, cover her cage and she seems to calm down quickly.

I didn't want to bother it to much but what I sawwithout moving it much is that the cat seems to have pulled out some fur and it has a few cuts on its hindquarters :grumpy:If its still alive tomarrow it is going to the vet.I still can't believe my cat got a bunny. it makes me scared for my own :?

You need to clean out those wounds asap as cat bites can easily get infected. Some saline, (salt+water) should work. Unless someone has a better idea? Try to feed the baby some herbs and hay and see if it eats. I hope it pulls through :)

I was thinking that too.

I'duseNeosporin if I were you. When my mouse (I was helping ahurt babymouse I had found in our basement) was hurt I called the vet and they said that I should use Neosporin.

Also if it doesn't try the herbs or hay, you could give it some pumkin (100% pumkin pumkin mix, you can find it at the store)or apple sacue (make sure it's all apple nothing else.

I put some Neosporin on it last night but when I went to check on it this morning it had died. I looked more at it and it had extesive wounds under the matted fur on its hindquarters and I think it must have been to much. It was very sad, the poor little thing. Thanks for the advice and support everyone.

Poor little guy. :(

I would definitaly watch your cat around your buns, but I think they know the differance between "their" pets and outside critters. My dog is fine with my cats & bunsbut will chase the strays cats outside. I think its just their instincts but he should know your buns scents.
