I just found a rabbit in the yard 3 daysago. He is black with alot of gray in the rear and whitespecks throughout, black moustache and feet. He islarge. I found him hopping around eating clover in theyards. I did catch him and took him home. I tookhim to the vet to get checked out before my kids handled him.The vet had never seen a rabbit with these markings, her guess is he ispart domestic and wild. He has a good attitude with pettingand being around people, but he doesn't like being picked up.The vet thinks he is about 2 years of age. Does anyone havesuggestions to train him to be handled easier etc?

They only advice I can offer is time andpatience. Whether you keep him inside or outside, He is going to needtime to adjust to the whole situation and to you and your family.

With one of my rabbits we waited a little less than a week. Thenwhenever we picked her up we gave her a treat. Since your bunnappartently likes clover you could use that. Good Luck.

There are a lot of rabbits who don't like to bepicked up, so don't feel too bad. Some never do like it evenif you provide all the support needed for them. I think it'sa rabbit thing. But, give him some time to get used to hisnew surroundings. Since he likes to be petted.....well, hemay have been an Easter bunny for somebody's kids, and then they gottired of taking care of him. And most everyone knows the restof the story. Personally, I think that people who desertcritters ought to be shot.
