So there is this stray neighborhood cat, who always comes by our house.
It's really sad. He(?) is super skinny, has a huge nasty cut on his ear and is
always crying :(

This has been going on for awhile. He survived the winter ( a Midwest one ).
He is such a little fighter!

We have put out emails in the neighborhood email list, called and asked around,
but it's been months and no one has claimed the poor thing.

So my family, being cat lovers, have decided we have to do SOMETHING to help
the poor little guy.

My mom called shelters all day today trying to find one that would take him
without putting him to sleep. We found one that is going to make us pay
the medical bills, which would be around $300. He is going to have to get
neutered, etc.

We can't keep him, since we have two cats of our own, but it's a no kill
shelter, so he would atleast be better off there.

I'm really excited because it's just breaking my heart seeing him out there all day :(

Aww, well you're doing the right thing, since you guys can't take him and no one is claiming him. Who's been feeding him for the past few months, though?

We have the same situation with the neighbors cat. He's been here since the day we moved in. His best friend used to live here, and then he moved :( so now he's claimed our kitty's (well mine) as his friend, but my cat well....He thinks Peeka is ok, but he doesn't really mind having him around. Charlie (my cat) isn't mean to Peeka, but he just doesn't care for P-Kitty to follow him around 24/7. lol.

This cat belongs to my neighbors and they obviously DONT care about him. He's been over at our house ALL the time for almost a year now! I think he's only been gone for like a week!

Well, now, my big sister who loves cats and lives in our trailer, has "adopted" him. She lets him sleep with her, and he eats and drinks in their. When we first found this kitty, he was VERY obese and we thought he was a she, and that she was pregnant. Well, now he is at normal weight, but has SOOO much loose skin on his belly where he used to have so much fat. He gets lots of exercise and plenty of kitty-safe food now, so I don't think he should get obese anymore. I think he was obese from eating field mice....but you'd think he'd burn all the weight off chasing them! lol.

Anyway, good luck! :)

Silvie, I'm glad you're doing something to help.

My mom has 2 gorgeous girls who have decided to live at her house. They share the back yard with a racoon who also believes she is domestic and should live there LOL!

Both girls have gotten pregnant and as soon as they have their kittens, we'll take them to get spayed.

The racoon, and her young, will just get spoiled being fed leftovers....

Can you tell where I get my love of animals? ;)

Good for you! Yikes about the price, but in all actuality it will probably cost them that much to treat him/her and house him.. So glad you took the time to find a no-kill shelter. Yay you!

That's pretty sacraficing to spend that much on a cat that you don't even know. That's amazing. And taking the time to find him a shelter. You guys did good.

Any updates?

My Mom and the shelter people caught the kitty today!

My poor Mom was so scared- he was hissing alot.
She said he settled down though, and he doesn't seem to be too feral.
She drove him to a vet that's pretty far away from us, and that's where he is now.

We should be getting an call for more updates tommarow.

The shelter is no-kill, so that's good. It's just a matter if he is even healthy/friendly enough. It also may be hard to adopt him out right now because he is an adult, and the no one wants adult cats anymore :[. It also doesn't help that the shelter is being flooded with kittens right now.

Right now him being humanely eauthanized is a possibility :(. (By the vet)

We got to name him, and we chose Survivor. Suits him, 'huh? :)

Send good luck and healing vibes!
