Ok so I got my Pet giant cage yesterday. And we set it up as soon as we got it and storm has been in there over 24 hours now.

But he refuses to leave the cage. He will come to the door look out but not leave his cage is in the same spot as it has always been.

Storm is not a very love or be around human type bunny.

But normally he would hop around with us in here. He seem happy there is nothing wrong. he is eating his pellets as I type. He is jumping up on his self and he seems to be happy all in all.

Playing with his toys eating hay.

So is he scared to clear the door maybe. He would have to jump out of it. I guess people with pet giant cages would have to answer he has clears things sitting higher then this before.

What's just outside the door? Some bunnies don't like jumping out on to slippy surfaces so if you've got wood or tile than try putting a rug in front.

I had the same problem and I put a board from the door to the floor like a ramp and all worked out good. Thats just me it might hepl or else he is so happy in there he doesnt wanna leave :)

Does he know he can get out? From what I understand, he has mostly been in cages with a small edge that he could just hop out. The new cage has a higher edge and he may not know that he is able to get out.
You might need to show him he can get out on his own. Try going in from the top, and getting him to go out with some encouragement. You might need to help him in and out a couple times until he understands that he can do it. Some bunnies don't like the wire door, so attaching some cardboard to it could help. Putting something under the door to create a step might work too.
As he has had many different cages, he might not feel totally secure and just wants something that he knows. Once he settles into the new cage, he should want to come out again. It would be good to just leave the area the same (not moving things) for a while.

I have a similar cage (but smaller) attached to Kirby's NIC pen. I took the door that leads in off its hinge with some pliers so she wouldn't have to clear the ramp on it, I was worried she would get a leg caught. If the door/ramp is still attached, maybe he sees it as an obstacle?

He has always been in NIC cage tell this one.

This is his cage

I am thinking a board or something he has only had one other true cage and he had to jump up 2 feet to clear the door it was a hutch.

I will let him settle. Hopefully this is his cage forever I cant see up buying another one.

He seems to want treats still although he can only have one a day.

reasons for staying inside,,i-m,thinking security.//.baring heath and acess issues..sincerely james waller:wave:

I bought a wood box from a craft store and put that under the door (to prop it up). Then I clipped a piece of fleece onto the door so my bun couldn't get his feet caught. So now the door is more like a shelf to jump up on and my bun loves it.

Also, is he nervous about the slippery floor? When I first got my bun he didn't leave his litter box for hours. Then I put down a piece of fleece on the floor and he was fine. Turns out he was afraid of the slippery floor.

My foster Flash did the exact same thing when I first got him. He wouldn't budge from his litterbox until I got a small kitchen rug to put on the tile floor of his pen.

Ok so I think Storm is warming up to the idea of everything he is searching out his morning treats again.

And he is looking out of the door more and more.

I want to give him some time to try to jump it before I go buy something. I know he can clear it. Cause the door does not even touch the groung when open so its not like a ramp.

He is going to get back to normal soon

OH good Glad to here Kat!!!

Well he cleared it and now he wont stop jumping in and out its like a game for him.

He did it the first time while I was in the shower. I think he is trying to get it right.

But I knew he could do it problem solved

When I had a cage with a door that swung down, I took pliers and unhinged it and reattached it so it swung up instead. I was worried that bunny feet might get stuck in the wire on the way in or out.
