I have a question to those who use Ivermectin paste with their rabbits and how you store it.

The only time before now that I've dealt with it was with horses and it was never around long enough to have to be stored.

Anyways, should I put the tube in the fridge? Or is it fine in my storage tower with all my other rabbit stuff. Seeing as how it's on a shelf at a feed store, I'm assuming it's fine to just leave out since the only seal is a cap that I put back on after using it.

Store Ivermectin paste in a cool area (under 77 degrees F) out of direct light. Shelf life is approx. 36 months. (Expiration date should be on package).

I didn't know you could use the paste with rabbits, what is the dose in case I need it? I keep paste around for my rats I've used it for a long time and I've always kept it on a shelf too :)

I used a pea-sized amount for my boys. They are four pounds each.

I would be careful though, as some rabbits can have severe reactions to this drug.

I only used it after my vet had successfully treated mine with it.

I've read here before that if your rabbit has blue eyes, or white feet, you should not treat with Ivermectin.

I can't find the thread, so I can't remember the relation, but it's here somewhere.

Some rabbits have a toxicity reaction to Ivermectin. In dogs, this has been linked to the MDR1 mutation. It is possible that some rabbits also have this mutation as reactions have been reported in Dutch and BEW rabbits. (Rabbit with white feet may have the Dutch or BEW gene, but no link has been conclusively verified as to which rabbits are more likely to have a reaction to the drug).

Thanks that is good to know, I know my bun is fine with the ivermectin. I just don't care for the injection though the last time wilbur got one, the vet put him in his carrier right away, because he went nutty from the burn and I don't want him to go through that again :(
