Stopping Junk Emails

Does anyone have any ideas how to stop getting junk emails, other than getting a new email address. That's out of the question as too many people have my email address especially because of the lawsuits. (Gosh my Insurance lady is ditsy enough if I changed my email address I'd never hear from her.)

According to some of the JUNK emails, I have won numerous jackpots over in England, I know everything about the Blue little pill and wow if I need Breast implants I have a million places to go to.

Some morning I wake up to over 100 junk emails, then they just continue to come throughout the day.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It depends witch Messenger you use, If its msn theres a seeting you can chose. Not sure where LOL. Sorry, Im not much help.

lol - I'm sorry Susan but your post was funny! I know implants, enlargements... you name it.

I have been lucky so far- but have recently began recieving several emails a day about an account update from the Royal bank. I don't have an account there and never have. As soon as I press "spam" and delete it, another one shows up. I wish I knew how to make it stop too. :?

I went to a new email...now when I give my email for something I am not sure of or don't care very much about I give the old one and save the newer one for stuff important...I don't get any spam on the new but still have over a 1000 in my bulk folder at least when I check the old and the old is VERY old...I don't know if there is really much you can do. There is supposed to be settings now that people have to be on say a safe list to get through and what not but I don't know much about it.
Also I have heard there is email forwarding now...don't know that there would be much point though, I would think the crap woud just get sent forward than...

Hey Susan,

I know how you feel and it's so annoying. The only things I can think of right now is what we do. Like, I have one email now, at that is Yahoo. Have had it for years. Over the past couple years, I've been getting tons, but most of the junk goes into the Junk Mail folder, so when I open the Inbox I don't see it. I only have maybe 1 or 2 that are bogus. I let the junk folder fill up til I feel like messing with it one day.

Here's the other thing. Have two accounts. When you are joining something or signing up for something that requires your email address, use the one that has all the junk in it already, so when they "sell" your address or whatever it is that gets it around,the spam or junkwill go there and not your other one. I have had to "unsubscribe" to some stuff because of the bulk of emails I was getting:?. Just use your "clean" email for serious stuff that you know won't get you the junk.

I have a couple of "throw-away" accounts that I use when I send orders online, etc. That way my primary address remains somewhat pure. It's easy to create a throw away account on yahoo; probably on most other email servers.

I have a g-mail account and I get lots of spam - but it almost all ends up in the spam folder, gmail is really good. I've only gotten 2 or 3 spams that have gotten through their system. If anybody wants an invite to gmail I'd be more than happy to send you one.

CorkysMom what do you mean by "what client do I use"?

I only wish I would have known to have a second email when I signed up for things, like I said it would be yoo much a pain in the bum to change it now. Believe me once this law suit settles I will get a new one.

Sure does!!! That's exactly what I needed to know!

This is a free program that you can d/l and install to use with it. It does a good job, I've been using it for years. It also has a 'junk suspect' folder where it will put things if it's not sure, so in that regard you teach it.
