Has anyone come across Stasis/Gas causing a rabbit to cough/sneeze/choke when trying to eat?
Ours got very ill and refused to eat or drink. We took him to the vet who found some mouth ulcers and has filled down some of his teeth (btw he doesn't have many teeth only a few at the back).
Custard still failed to start eating, so we had to start syringe feeding him, and finally he has started to get better. He can drink fine, but whenever he tries to eat by himself its only in small amounts or he starts to choke, with clear liquid coming out of his mouth & nose, with rapid breathing and sneezes.
The last time we went to see the vet she did say he felt a bit gassy, could this be causing the choking/gaging episodes? He has only just started to produce droppings again (soft with mucus), could it be he simply can't manage much (simply backed up).
Or could it be something else as we are not sure his teeth cause the stasis problem in the first place.
We are currently syringe feeding him little and often.
