EW! Star had a tick on her face lastnight!!?? I had NO idea rabbits could (or would) getticks. Poor thing! :(

Ever seen ticks on your buns? Where the heck do they comefrom? I can't, for the life of me figure out where she pickedthat up...

And how should ticks on rabbits be treated? (Hope I did the right thing!)

Hugs! Shorty, Star & Krick

Ticks are nasty things. Andbuns can get them, as well as cats and dogs. An outdooranimal can bring them in, or they can come in on yourclothes. The most important thing in removing them (if theyare already imbeded) is to get the head out. Grabbing thetick with tweezers and gently pulling will usually get them torelease. (Please don't ever hold a lit match/lighter/openflame near your bun... I know SOME people suggest this to get the tickto back out on it's own, but it will freak your bun.) Andthen I would put a dab of bacitraycin over the wound. If youdon't get head out, a trip to the vet will be needed. Leavingthe head in can lead to infection. Either way, keep an eye onthe wound for a few days to make sure there is no otherreaction. If you have other animals in the house, I'd suggestchecking them too.

Give Star a hug and a kiss.
