What do you call St.Nick... ?

It depends who i'm talking to..

If it's kids I call him Santa because I tried calling him St.Nick and that ended up in a religion lecture.. not many kids I know who St.Nick even is...

Around older people.. who seem knowladgable i'll call him St.Nick .

Otherwise.. I call him Santa.

Around here, St. Nick and Santa Claus are two different people (and holidays!).

I call St. Nick, well, St. Nick. He comes in early December and leaves goodies in your stockings.

Santa Claus is the guy who comes on Christmas Eve :)

Father Christmas.

Its odd that Santa Claus and Saint Nick are technically the same person. Well, actually they are the same person because St Nick obviously existed. Saint Nicholas = Sinter Niklass = Sante Klasse = Santa Clause.

The reason why Father Christmas puts gifts in our stockings(socks)? Saint Nicholas was often very good at giving people gifts secretly. There are many stories but one of the most popular is that Saint Nicholas was travelling past a poor persons house one evening. The ladies had all hung their stockings up on the ends of their beds for the night. Saint Nicholas was travelling past and threw a coin through their window into each of the stockings. When they woke up, they all had a coin. Yay!

haha! that reminds me of a joke i heard today-what does a cat at the beach and christmas have in common? sandy claws/santy clause:biggrin2:

I was taught that St.Nick was the one who gave all he could to help people. Then when he passed St.Nick's spirit was still 'Alive' and kept doing the good things... which he was later named Santa Claus..

And that's why Santa Clause has easy acess to you're tree.. he's a 'Spirit'.
