Spraying?

How do you know if a bunny is starting to spray or just going where he shouldn't. Scamper has been having free roaming in my daughters room when we are home and usually goes back to his cage to go to the bathroom. Two days last week he urinated on her bed and left poo all over it :-/ He is 4 months old. I've seen cats spray and its obviously different than when they are just using the bathroom. Are bunnies the same?

Sounds like he is marking the bed for sure. A rabbit can do like a running spray were the urine flys all over or they can just raise there tail and pee in a spot that "belongs to them" like the bed
My bun also goes back to her cage for potty and does not spray but if she can get in our room she will leave poops on my husbands side of the closet. She really loves my husband. Its time to get your bunny fixed.

Or like Harvey used to do, the drive by spray. haha He would get the cats while circling them. Tho he would also pee all over the sofa when the cats were on it and in that case he'd either back up into a spot or just simply pee without bothering to move or lift his tail.

BTW, neutering stopped all those problems. Now he only pees in his boxes.

Very good point Emily. All those different types of peeing count as spraying.

He just did it again, little stinker. It was a lot of pee and in the same spot on the bed. So bed stripped and sheets in the washer for the third day. BTW that's his baby picture I need to take some current ones.

Neutering will take care of it. It worked for us as we had "Hutch, king of the horny rabbits"--no rm was safe! He also liked to do the "run by".

well i got bert and ernie fixed on friday and they have stopped spraying already! glad i dont have to keep washing my arms as bert did *run bys* lol

Well I guess I need to figure out if his testicles have dropped he is not willing to let me flip him and poke around. Then I need to find somewhere to have the snip done my regular vet doesn't do it. Right now I have a plastic table cloth on my daughters bed.
