I hope this is the right place to post... I wanted to tell you guys that the SPCA in Laval and Montreal are under police investigation after claims that they falsified statistics regarding the number of euthanasias. Someone finally spoke out. The vet in Laval spoke to a news channel that had been doing a story on them. He was fired the next day. Now there is a huge thing about transparency and the tax payers having a right to know what goes on in there.
Keep your fingers crossed that this may be a good thing. The admins are all friends and though they have been under criticism for years, the head was never fired because it's all a bunch of his friends under him.
The SPCA has a very terrible reputation and it has been awful trying to rehome bunnies. I experienced it myself when I first started with them. Good families who would have made great bunny adopters turned away when they were told where the bunnies were.
As if that's not bad enough, we cannot permit the adoption fees to go to the SPCA because they do not give it backto the bunnies, instead we have to do itin someone else's name, and that person cashes it into a special account the volunteers set up for the department.
So keep your fingers crossed that maybe, some things will change and we might get a director that actually cares
