Here is Spartan's new cage. It is large enough for one male rat, plus his toys and hammocks. I do plan to upgrade though, when he gets larger and if he and Leonidas (my other male rat) bond in the future *I hope*:

I got the cage for free off of my local "Freecycle".

The cage was pretty much brand new and it works GREAT for Spartan! He loves it! I just need to sew up more hammocks and get a few more toys.

Here are my rat cages.
Leonidas still has a homemade NIC & hardware cloth cage, but I will be buying him a new cage pretty soon (maybe tomorrow)!

Did I mention that I feed my rat's a homecooked breakfast and dinner? They also get dessert as a treat one night a week!

Here is a dinner that I made up. It contains: broccoli, peas, green beans, rice with a pear/honey sauce, some oats, and a peice of cantalope!

Here is a dessert from the other night.
It is a mini hot fudge/peanut butter sundae (cooled off, of course).

A reminder:

If anyone on the forum has rats or is interested in getting rats and wants to know my homemade grain mixture (instead of those horrible seed mixes from the pet store) and some easy breakfast/dinners/desserts....then feel free to PM me or ask away here! You can also ask me any type of rat question that you may have!

:biggrin2:

Wow, thats so awesome.

I want a rat, but my mom wont let me have any rodents in the house :rollseyes

Those dinners look delicious! It must be like having a human child to cook for :scared:

Remember that is it always best to get two rats, as they looove the company. My boys just do not get along, as they were brought into the house at separate times....so I have to "rat bond" :p.

Spartan looks similar to my Bravo, only Bravo is blue. I have 8 rats of my own (4 boys, 4 girls) and 5 foster rats (all girls). This is what their cage looks like. The boys and girls have matching cages, and this is the girls cage. Spartan is a cutie.

sorry Amy you will never get an "aaahhh your rat/or ferret is sssoo cute",lol i am not a rat or ferret person. Nice cage, and the food looks yummy enough to eat your self, lol.

Nice set-up! Looks like lots of fun toys.

I didn't realize that rats could have chocolate (hot fudge). It's not bad for them like it is for cats or dogs? Spartan doesn't seem to mind, lol!

Nice cage Amy! :)Yours too Stargazer, I love that.

I will have ratties at some point in the future, but not for a long time. I want a pair of Cavies though,I hope to get some in the next few months. :)

I think rats are wonderful..but since I lost Mia and Eva I just feel that i cannot handle their short life-spans.

I will get ovet that and in time I will get more.

I love the fact that they are so intelligent.

Yep, ratties can eat chocolate....but not very often as it isn't healthy for them.

Stargazer...I love your cage. I really like the Martin's cages, but for the price of them...I might as well just wait until my fiance and I get our own place in the spring and get a Ferret Nation, since I will have room for it :p.

It would cost me $160 to get a 695 to my house .

$160 for a 695? Ouch! I only paid $120 to get mine here, then $130 for the second one because I added a 3rd door. I would love a FN cage, but here, it was cheaper to get the 695 then the FN :(. I do have a SuperPets humoungo ferret cage that is as tall as I am and as wide as my daughter, but I'm waiting for my boys to get bigger to stick them in it.
