I know the forum has been up and down but that's not really an excuse.

Since the new year started, I got letters about my interviews for art school to do a foundation year in Art and Design.

I've been getting my portfolio ready, they want 25 A1 sheets of work (that's 200 sheets of A4 paper, filled with work)

I'm lagging behind on my school work as well, I keep finding myself going to bed at 3 in the morning because I'm just sitting here working! And I don't seem to be getting anywhere either!

:panic:

Good luck with everything, Fran! I'm starting to get busy again as well and only have time to pop in every once in a while. How are your bunnies?

OK - So I can procrastinate from doing my work! :D

This project is called 'Poetic Justice'. I had to choose a line of poetry and I am aiming to 'construct' it, haven't got that far yet. This is just research.

This is 'Landmarks'. I've only just started this project. I'm going to create designs for dresses using the inspiration of the Statue of Liberty. I probably won't make the dress though, just design it. I'm going to do some other things based on landmarks (be it the shapes, colours, etc)

And the following is all just random working design stuff. Mainly just progressing from a picture to some sort of pattern.

Hey, congrats on your portfolio! Its a huge undertaking, been there, done that!

You will probably at some point hear some varying opinions about Foundation year. It probably depends what school you go to, so I won't get to into that, except to say that for me and my boyfriend, Foundation year was probably the most painful years of our lives.... *groan*

Then again depending on your school it might be great, and totally eye opening, for me it was pain but I am still glad I went through it. The best thing that came out of it were the people I met. If you need any portfolio advice feel free to drop me a line!

Thanks a lot. To be honest I know the foundation year is essential for me. I have no idea what I want to do, I like too many degrees of art and design so I don't want to launch myself straight into a degree without actually knowing if that is what I definitely want to do. Also you can only really get into an art-based degrees in most of the universities I've looked at with a foundation, unless you are exceptionally talented (next Leonardo Da Vinci etc).

You do some amazingly creative work, Fran! It's great that you're not stuck in just one mode of design. I'm sure they'll see that as an opportunity to push you even further.

I love your landmark piece and how you developed it out.

Good luck!

...and keep sharing! :) I can't wait to see what you do next!
