Software, Sig Control note

As mentioned in the VIP Chat, this room is now only for Mods and Sponsors, so RO Friends and Task Force members can no longer see it.

Just a brief update...

The biggest delay is that the software we chose turned out to be an issue, many or the things promised by this company aren't happening thanks to a political situation with the developer. But if we change to another software company to compensate, it not only more than doubles our costs, we lose other options, most notably signature control. A bit of a dilemma!

I've been hoping that either the company we're with will overcome the problems and be able to provide the expected options for minimal cost, or that the rival company will develop the options they have that we want and we'll have the funds to buy a second package.

Also, there is a glitch in the sig control controls, but it doesn't seem to be affecting too much, so we're going ahead with using them. All Platinum members are currently allowed a graphic, I'll leave it up to Tracy to pass on the size info re: the cute one she has. The max will be low in height, but it can be as long as the posting area in width.

I think that waiting out the issues is the best right now also. We're not having anymore of the downtime issues and things like that so at least we are ok there!

Everyone seems pretty content at this time.

Hey Pipp,

So here I am just now seeing this. I've been insanely busy lately, but I can't complain because that's the way I like it. Nemo and I are doing just fine. I was just wondering if there was anything you needed me to do as a Platinum member. Anything I can help you out with, anything you don't want help with, anything you want to talk about, hahaha.

I'll make a full report in a separate thread but to follow up on this one, it doesn't look like we'll be able to switch to the other software company and retain our signature control feature (or our themes). The other company did try and accommodate us, but they didn't have enough other requests so the upgrade they're coming out with won't include sig control and I think it's important that we retain it, so it's looking like we'll have to soldier on with what we've got. :tongue
I will be buying an upgrade to the current Classic system, so at least some things will be somewhat better than they are now.
