so herman was fixed on the 10th, winnie has been fixed for about 6 months now (if not more). i have been doing my reading on bonding (as i have never done it) and i am seeing different websites say to wait 2 weeks after a neuter and different sites that say 1 month. . .if it is in 2 weeks then it is would be july 24, i have that entire week off of work (i have college oreintation july 24 and 25) so i really want to start when i get back, i hope to have them bonded before i leave (september 23), so the more time the better. . .and having a whole week off gives me a good start on it, but if you should wait a month, then i will wait.

or can i try at 2 weeks and if it looks like i need more time, then wait another 2 weeks?

I am FAR from an expert, but I think that the wait is so that there isnt anymore sperm. If you doe is sterile, I don't see any reason why you should have to wait any longer.

any longer then 2 weeks? or what i have waited so far (only 5 days?)

and i thought breeding was a challenging concept to understand!

One other reason to wait a little is the bucks hormones! It makes bonding harder when the buck is hormonal and keeps trying to mount the doe! They mount anyway during bonding...but hormones just make it that much harder in some cases!:?

edit-It can take a month for the hormones to start to settle down...In the case of our one buck he was an obnoxious beast for almost 3 months!:D

right, i understand about the horomones, but how long does it take for that to be not as big of a problem? or is it different for every rabbit?

Our second buck Dandelion, was neutered a month ago this week. He is fine...a little amorous but nothing that would irritate the girls. Solembum was honking and mounting and nipping to the point that he was really irritating the girls sometimes! It really just depends on the bunn! Solembum is a very intense little bunn...whereas Dandelion is usually really laid back and calm. The only way I guess is to give it a try and see how he is around your doe. If he is really over the top hormonal...wait for a week or so and try again.:?
