I decided that I wanted to bleach my hair tonight, and needleass to say, I forgot about brassy tones and all that's usually in brown hair. Oh, and this is the first time I've ever dyed my hair myself. Well, anyway, the roots are now blonde, but the rest of it is orange! :grumpy: I know I should've gone to the salon, but unfortunately I couldn't afford it at this time and I can get pretty impatient. Does anyone know how I can fix my hair without completely damaging it?

Best thing you can do is dye it red (i know it sounds weird), then dye it brown.

If you dye it back to brown it could go.. green? i think? Well basically we dyed my friends hair with peroxide and it came out YELLOW. So i rang my Auntie who is a hair dresser and she said red then brown with an intensive conditioning treatment afterwards. I can't remember why the two colours but i remember her saying that if you dyed it straight back to brown it would go green or something.

Hair goes through seven stages of lightening.. your around a 4.

Basically you should have left in on longer, or used something with a booster. You should have also applied the bleach to the roots last, as I am assuming you have had your hair dyed before, and your roots are new hair growth or *virgin hair*.The rest of your hair is treated already, therefore more resistant.

You can do it again, but I hate hate hate bleach, and you very well could turn yourself into cotton candy head.

Pinky is somewhat right.. when you bleach your hair, your removing pigment and making your hair shaft more porous. So when you dump a color on there, it sucks it up. Think about when you mix paint colors or even lipstick.. if you have a light shade, and you add a dark shade, its a diluted shade of the dark color..

You need whats known as a filler, you can go to the beauty supply and get a neutral filler, or a brown, or a red..you can also use Roux temporary color as a filler. Then apply your color... but apply the color to the roots last.. just as it lightened the quickest, it will also pull the color first and be the darkest..

Thanks guys. :) I just got back from the beauty supply store near my house and the lady who works there pretty much said the same thing you guys did. So she gave me a neutral brown and this light copper brown dye to mix with creme developer. She said that it should bring me pretty close to my original color. My hair actually looks pretty horrible right now, lol. I'm over-joyed that I can fix it though. :biggrin2:
