I have had an area on my shoulder blade that is driving me NUTS (and has been for weeks)... there is a burning pain that itches in one spot yet the doc cannot find anything there. Lidocaine patches are helping bring it to a dull roar but I'd love to have an answer to what it is - there is nothing on my skin - school nurse said get it checked for shingles but doc said it is not...at least, not yet. My mom had skin cancer in the same spot but her skin looked different, too.

Arrrgh...

can sympathise - i get this - seems to be right under the shoulder blade on me. it goes as quickly as it comes and for no reason. has been suggested to me that it's some form of repetitive strain - im right handed and its always on the right side.

i use a rub in gel such as deep heat or lanacane which helps. to be honest i've put it down to my age and playing badminton/tabletennis. cant keep up with the speed and power of 16 year old opponent/son. walking the dogs on a lead doesnt help either.

when it does happen i cant see any mark or redness on the skin, it's deep in the muscle.

Shingals has blister type sores. Or a red round circle i had it on my forehead and eye about 2 years ago.

Does not osund like shingals. Itching and burning does but you would have some signs of some kind of rash by now.

I get a cold, "burning" pains around my shoulder blades. It's just a muscle, in my case. I just do my stretches and such, and it goes away in a few weeks. It comes and goes in my case, though...

are you under alot of stress... just a thought... I hope it goes away soon

Oh yeah...the month of June is horrible for me with graduation and Awards Night... then it is all over tomorrow afternoon... stress has been building since March.

The bumps arepopping upas of last night... going back to the doc this week to verify what they are... but I know it will take two weeks from now for it to actually look like shingles on me.

My doc knows my body does not follow the normal rules... (it is a running joke with us) with the gallbladder I had out in January there should have been stones but instead, the organ was full of adhesions, was shrunkenand just was not working... not what the pathologist thought he'd find.

Denise :)

Yep could be shingals.

Stay away from anyone under two or over 65. You can give them the chicken pocks.

Once you start taking the anti fungel meds it will hurt hurt ral bad. I was prescribe vicaden. I told the doctor I don't need such a strong pain killer. The next day boy I took one and it did not even kill the pain. It just knocked me out but in my sleep I still could feel the pain.

It only lasted for two days. The hard core pain stay out of the sun. It makes it hurt worse it took me about a week to recover to the point my boss let me come back to work but I worked in mc donolds so I could not be around kids.

I was on Neurotin last time in a very high, increasing dosage... as it felt like someone was sticking a stake of rebar through me where the initial rash was (I thought it was poison ivy initially). Luckily school is out for us and the doc said that he will prescribe aggressive medication. I do not have any babies around me or folks over 65 so I am good... pays to live rurally. :)

Thanks,

Denise

Have you come into contact with anything that could have caused an allergic reaction? New laundry detergent?

Sounds like you could be getting or have shingles.

Shingles is the chicken pox virus coming out again. Stress is one of the reasons you get the shingles.

It could also be an inflamation in that area causing your pain... have you injured yourself there? or have you over used that arm/shoulder?
