Silver Birch Rabbitry 2009
Welcome to my blog!
Well for starters my name is Jackie & I'm 14 years old! I raise French Angoras & Lionheads, & I love every second of it! We just purchased a house outside of Simcoe, Ontario, with a huge barn! Therefore we have more space for bunnies! We are soon going to have 50+ holes! So I'm very excited! I'm not the only one in my house who raises bunnies though! My mother raises English Angoras & my 12 year old brother raises Netherland Dwarves! I'm a member of the ARBA & SORBA! I'm considering joining 4H though :]

The Bunnies
Now I will tell you about my bunnies! Each have their own individual personalities! I do have my favorites though lol But who doesn't?
Nightshade
Well what can I say? This girl is wonderful! I received this girl at the Dorchester show on May 30th 2009! She was born on April 5th 2009! So she is still a youngster! I showed her to the judges at the show & they said she is AMAZING for her age! Plus she is show quality! She is still a little bit shy but that is ok :) I traded a Vienna French Angora doe for her! What a fair trade that was :] I will start showing her this fall!
Fuzzy Mcgee
I was on the SORBA classifieds and I seen someone selling English Angoras, French Angoras & Satin Angoras, so I messaged them quickly asking if they had any show quality French Angora bucks for sale, and surely enough they did! They were asking $75! Of course I didn't have any money lol So I asked my mom to buy me him as an early B-day present and surely enough 2 weeks later I picked him up at the show! Boy, was I proud I finaly had my first show bunny! This guy is just so lovable! I couldn't have asked for a better guy!

TO BE CONTINUED!

Cloud 9 & Belle Of The Ball

These 2 little munchkins are just turning 5 weeks old, they were born May 1st 2009! They were my pick of the litter bunnies! Of course they are still with their mommy (who I obviously own aswell)! These 2 little girls will begin their showing this coming fall! I'm very excited and hoping they will do well! Hoping to breed them to Fuzzy Mcgee aswell around Novemberish ;)

Princess Fufu

Everyone has seen this rabbit! Well mostly everyone! Fufu is my vienna tort Lionhead doe. Who was supposed to be spayed, that is what the original owner told me :grumpy:So I put her in with my buck and he started humping her aftera week or so, so I seperated them, thinking she couldn't like that very much. 3 Weeks later she popped out 1 kit. DOA. :grumpy:Since than I purchased Icecap, a BEW lionhead buck to breed to her :biggrin2:

Icecap a.k.a Dumbo

Well I picked up this handsome fellow from the same breeder I got Fuzzy Mcgee from! He is a gorgeous fully pedigreed, double maned, BEW hunk! He has 2 girlyfriends! Bailey & Princess Fufu :coolness:He is totally unpredictable though :expressionlessHe can be super friendly one second then he will turn around and try to eat your hand off!

Bailey (My personal favorite)

What can I say about this GORGEOUS, WONDERFUL, SWEET little thing? Well she is a fully pedigreed, double mane, Frosted pearl (My favorite color besides Otter)! I love this rabbit, she is totally adorable :) If you seen her you would totally agree ;)She is a natural poser, she sees the camera come out and she strikes a pose lol

Cheerio & Cash

These little guys belong to my 12 year old brother, they are both netherland dwarves & totally adorable :) Cheerio isn't old enough to breed yet but when she is she will have gorgeous babies! Cash is a show bunny & an absolute sweetheart! Love his personality aswell as hers :)

Yukon & Alaska

These are my moms English Angoras, Yukon comes from Champion lines and is absolutly gorgeous with an amazing coat! He cannot be shown though due too him only having 1 testicle :( Alaska is my moms young doe, she is adorable with extremely cute ear furnishings! My mom is also getting a Lilac show buck soon :biggrin2:

Well...

Those are the bunnies I have now! Not including babies, the 5 rabbits I have for sale & rabbits that I have arranged to get within the next couple weeks! Those guys posted above are all pretty much my permie residents, well except Cloud 9 & Belle Of The Ball, they will be permie if they make good show bunners! :D

Anyways I will try to keep this updated and post atleast twice a week! I will most likely post more than that though lol :biggrin2:

Well I've done it again, the urge to get a new rabbit is urging me on lol I was on ARBA, looking though Canadian French Angora breeders, and I found someone who has French & English angoras! Vienna marked lilac English angoras! Like who couldn't resist of course they are like 7 hours away :[ So I'm arranging shipment plans rofl.

Well what did I tell you? I can't help myself =P Fufu is also due around my birthday! I'm going to have so many rabbits :| It is a good thing I enjoy feeding, watering, cleaning & brushing them xD Or their fuzzy-butts would be out the door :p

Well better go feed & water the bunnies lol Might come on later & blog some more I love it :biggrin2:

Well it turns out it will cost over $150 to get them shipped to me :expressionlessSo that plan is down the drain, but I had a back up plan rofl

I was on Kijiji and seen someone looking to sell their 2 English Angora does, both are show quality & pedigreed :) They were asking $150 for each of them. So here is where I come in lol I asked why they were selling them, they said because they have 1 buck and the three does, and they want to keep the buck and 1 of the does because it is WAY to much grooming.

So I explained that French Angoras are easier to keep groomed (which they are x10) So I'm trading a Senior doe, a Senior buck and a 9 week old doe from one of my litters for both of her English's! We are meeting on Sunday! I'm excited :) I'm going to keep one for myself and give one to my mom as a gift lol

Oh and I totally forgot to mention this, my mom has wanted a baby racoon FOREVER, she raised 5 a couple years ago lol But I was on Kijiji and I seen someone who had 2 baby coons and needed them gone ASAP the mom had abandon them & the lady had no time to feed them because she had to work, so I called her up and we drove to get em'. They are absolutly adorable will post pics when I go to the library :].

Well though I should tell everyone lol I'm excited about getting the angoras :]

Well we went to the auction today to pick my moms new Lilac English Angora, he is cute, he looks like an old man rofl

Anyways I seen thee cutest black otter jersey woolie, he was in the meat section though :expressionlessAnyways the lady I was with said he would probably only go for about $2, so I decided to bid. Well the HUGE meat rabbits go for $10, so this scrawny thing would go for way less, so I though :rollseyesI bidded against some weird woman who smelled really bad like tobacco, I went up to 17.00, and I won! Now I need a doe! I actually already have one lined up! Then no more rabbits until I have more space!

He is adorable, but when I went to go over to look at the goats with him, the woman I was bidding against came up to me with a little New Zealand in her hands, she says this thing will eat my dwarf and she was going on. Then she asked me to trade :shock:I was like no I don't think so. Like a dwarf and a young new zealand can be bonded easily!

Anyways this little buggers new name is Quicksilver, and he LOVES to give kisses! He is a total sweetheart! I love em' :biggrin2:

Well I have decided to get 2 show quality Jersey Woolie does from the lady I bought my Pedigreed French Angoras & Lionheads from. I was looking on Google, and the baby Jerseys are ADORABLE! They really do live up to their nickname (Mugghead)! Like I said I can't control myself!

Well I have my 3 rescues for sale & 1 of my senior bucks. Aswell as the 10 babies in my litter, I decided not to keep Belle Of The Ball & Cloud 9. I hope they sell fast.

Anyways my Jersey is already using his litter box! I have had him for 1 day :expressionlessTalk about fast learner lol He LOVES cheerios :biggrin2:

I contacted the breed I know I'm waiting to see what she asks for her Jerseys, I'm getting one regardless!

Went & picked up the Tort English Angora doe for my mom today for her B-day present. I was looking at her pedigree she has AMAZING bloodlines. She carries Betty Chu aswell! The lady paid $150 for each of her 4 English's, then she says she got a wrist injury and she couldn't groom them, and that they had a few matts. (P.S I traded a senior French Angora Doe & a young broken black buck for the English) Anyways we get the rabbit home, she is COVERED in matts. Like it wasn't even funny, her tail was like one big hard poop ball, her neck, stomach, bum, armpits, back & her hind feet were ALL matts. So I attempted to brush her out, but it didn't work, so I shaved all the matts off and very carefully did her hind feeties. I then ran some luke warm bath water and put her in the tub so her tail could loosen the poo off. It came of pretty easily once wet, she jumped out of the tub 3 times 0.0 I put conditioner in her tail lol

3 hours later & we are done lol at 2 am in the morning :p Well atleast she isn't all matted and uncomfortable. She is an absolute sweetheart! With the cutest ear tufting! She is also show quality & with Betty Chu lines (Like I mentioned above)!

I will be moving her out to the barn tommorow once she is dry, she is in my brothers room for tonight so she can dry some more and stay warm lol

:twitch:

Well I got Faith (the matted English) out in the barn with the other bunnies, she is such a sweetheart!
My mom also got our horses trailered here today from the boarders! We bought a farm lol long story. Anyways I got myself 4 Guinea Pigs, 1 Peruvian boar and 3 American sows! I have a nice little enclosure for them :]
Also I bred Fufu to Icecap! The babies will be GORGEOUS, I'm so excited, she better not kill them
I sold all my baby buns. And I found my 3 rescued does a home with a friend of mine, she is a bunny 4H leader, so they will be in good homes, I also sent an unpedigreed French Angora buck with her lol Her daughter also bred her Vienna marked Lionhead does to breed to my BEW buck, I get pick of the litter :biggrin2:
They are also giving me a crap load of bunny cages and a 4 week old Guinea Pig boar which I have named Woodstock :)
I will now introduce the piggies :]

 • Bojangles is my agouti Peruvian boar, I picked him up from a friend of mine who owns a petshop :] He is very cute and a total stud muffin lol

 • Sweetie is a REW American sow I picked her up from the same place I got Bojangles, she is very timid but she is coming around!

 • Fenix is a Red & White sow, I picked her and Eve up at an auction for $3! She has a red face and a white mid section then a bog red spot on her rump!

 • Eve is a Tri color American sow, she is the fattest piggie lol She doesn't hide as much as the others do lol
Well I will have to finish my blogging later my step brother needs to call his gf, and we have dialup :[ So will keep everyone updated!

Aww thank you very much :] I think I've seen pics of your bunnies aswell :] Are they dwarves? If so I have seen them :] They are adorable!
Yup they are, thanks :)

thats insane...would love to see pictures. if you email them to me maybe i can post them up for you so others can see, or you can make an online album at photobucket or something and just leave the link in a post on your blog

I have not done very much with my blog lately. So I decided I should do some updates :)

We just recently did a small downsize. I have decided not to breed Lionheads and sold all of my remaining stock. Anyways here are some updates of the bunnies old and new:

Fuzzy Mcgee my REW French Angora buck,

Nightshade my black French Angora doe,

Biscotti my black otter Jersey Woolie buck,

Nova my black Otter Flemish Giant doe &

Zeus my black chin Flemish Giant/New Zealand buck.

Those are the bunnies which are my permie residents. We have more bunnies but they are my moms and my brothers:

Alaska my mom's blue English Angora doe (Kindled 5 babies, 2 blues and 3 blacks),

Faith my mom's Tort English Angora doe (Kindled 7, 2 lived, both blacks being fostered by Alaska)

Yukon my mom's REW English Angora buck,

Cheerio my brother's broken black otter Netherland Dwarf doe &

Cash my brother's sable martin Netherland Dwarf buck.

Yep we don't have much, but it means each bunny gets more outside time and attention. I have also gave the Guinea Pigs to my 4H leader. Anyways life is pretty good otherwise. A good friend of mine just picked up Bailey, the frosted pearl Lionhead doe I had, so she has a nice permanant home. I also just got my show results sheet back, saying Fuzzy Mcgee got 1st in both of the shows. So that was pretty good :]

I will post more later though dinner is done :)
