On Sunday Rocky went to the vet and was vaccinated for Calicivirus for the first time.

I had to take him back in yesterday because he had a reaction to it.

The skin where he had the injection went pink, he didn't want to do anything, and kept just sitting in the middle of the hallway or sitting in the corner. At one stage he was sitting in the corner with his ears slightly back (he is a dwarf lop so his ears were just flopped down like normal).

I took him to the vet last night and they gave him some subcutaneous fluids and an injection that apparently gives his appetite a kick start as he wasn't eating properly.

I originally took him in because I thought he had mites, they said that they cant tell because it is too early or something. We gave him a treatment of revolution to see if that would fix him up.

He was very shaken up last night after his ordeal, he just sat in the corner for quite a while so I put him back in his cage and didn't disturb him much.

He is eating a little bit more today, he didn't eat much yesterday. He poops but not as much as id like. He seems very timid so I will give him a quiet cuddle and leave him in his cage for a bit so he can rest.

Has anyone had the same thing with their bunny after this vaccination? I'm pretty new to being a bunny slave so I don't know what to expect. I have some Oxbow Critical Care on standby in case he stops eating, I am keeping him in a warm spot and trying to keep the noise in my house down.

Is there anything else I can do for him? Sorry for the long winded speech :p

Reactions are reasonably common from what I know, unfortunately, but they're far preferable to the disease. :(

It sounds like you're doing everything you should for the little guy. Keep him warm and hydrated. I put a touch of juice in a crock of water to see if that helps inspire them to drink. Whatever your equivalent of Pedialyte is -- a rehydration drink for kids - might be good to have on hand.

Critical Care is great, it should be well-soaked to make sure it's absorbed all the liquid.

Here's hoping he's back to normal soon.
