Hello, Butsy is very cute. In my very humble opinion, showing her would be worth a try.

Here are shows in Canada via the ARBA (click)--> Canada Shows

maybe one of those shows is close to you?

Also if you can find someone else in your area who has experience at shows and can help you out that will be a great benefit for you to have.

What breed is Butsy?
I think that's where we should start -that way we can see how well she fits to her standard.

Do you know if she's purebred, or is she mixed? She looks like a Mini Lop, but it's hard to tell if she's purebred or not. ;)

How much does she weigh? And where did you get her? A breeder, petstore? Also, is she spayed?

If she's spayed, she won't be able to be shown. ;)

well she is fixed :( . and i got her at a petstore . they told me she was a minilop, but they also told me she was a boy lol. so they could be wrong !!! and she is supposed to be purebred !! and thanks for the links guys !

she is 9 months old and weighs 4.6. last time i weighed her, but, that was just before getting fixed, she has gained weight !! also, i just googled holland lops, and im not sure ... her ears are a bit longer and on the side... but i could be wrong, i dont know alot about buns :p

So sorry, you can't show buns that have been fixed. But she is cute and looks like a wonderful companion. If you do want to get a bunny you can show we would be happy to help you with that :)

She very well could be a mini lop based on her weight. I don't know very much about mini lops at all, it was her head and ears that hinted at holland lop for me.

You may not be able to show neutered males, but how are they honestly going to tell as far as a spayed doe? Unless the scar is super evident, or there's a general appearance change (Which I wouldn't know...).

why can't you show fixed bunnies?
First off, just because it's against the rules. But the reason it is against the rules is because of the mission of breeders. Breeders try to produce the best possible animals that they can. For instance, if you had a bunny that was really great, but it was fixed and couldnt pass on its genes for the next generation, then that would not be what is best for the breed. It's just like other rules we have for show, breeders are not allowed to alter any part of their rabbit, including plucking hairs, dying fur, or anything that would artificially make the rabbit look better than its natural and true self.

hmm, well in the rat world we can show spayed or neutered rats. depending on the club. Because alot of times, people will get their rats fixed, I like when My rats are showed, but most of them are fixed. Because it's my adopters that show them, however when they show the babies they adopted from me, then I know my ratties are on the right track.

Can you not show fixed bunnies in the UK too or is it just in the us? I understand how it is to want to the genes to be passed on for a next generation, but what about us pet owners who have one or two buns that we would like tho show for fun, after all rabbit spaying and neutering is highly promoted.

I would think that the rules would be the same in the UK for showing purebred rabbits. You can look up their web site to check. It is the British Rabbit Council.

There are some shows that offer showing for pet rabbits, but very few that I have seen.

I think you can't show does that have been spayed, either. ;) I know at our county fair, there was a doe in the pet class that was spayed and the judge told the owner that it's best not to enter animals that have been fixed...and this was in the pet class. ;) So I'm pretty certain that fixed does wouldn't be able to be entered in regular purebred classes.

You can't show a fixed bunny in an arba show. Another thing that would be a strike against her is that she is a white lop. For some reason on white lops the coat is different then it is on colored lops. Many judges won't place a white colored lop, other then the fact that it is white.

It is nice that you are expressing interest in showing rabbits though. I would suggest attending a rabbit show first, see if that's something you would be interested in, then figure out what breed you would like to show.

You can find rabbits shows in your area at www.arba.net.
