I just attended one of the smaller shows I've been too, but it had the most Flops AND Californians we've seen all year. There were over 30 in each of the breeds, whereas we're usually lucky to have enough for the BoB winner to get a leg. Anyway, on to the happy dance part....
Maxine won the senior doe class, getting a leg.
Grump won the 6/8 class, but 1 rabbit shy of a leg.
Boo won the junior doe class, winning a leg. Then she turned around and won Best of Breed. YAY!!! At first I was like, "Darn, I thought Max should get it." Then I thought about it some more, and I'm glad Boo beat her...I bought Max, but I bred Boo. Max will always be near and dear to my heart, for sure, but the home grown win was a bit nicer.
Kitty's Californian doe won her junior doe class, getting a leg. Unfortunately Gibbs ripped out a nail at the fair, so he wasn't able to go. Trisha is nursing kits, and Alfie's still not back to prime since having hers.
The judge (Johnny Haussener...which I've probably butchered spelling!) didn't care for Karmin at all. I got "very nice" on just about every comment...until he checked his teeth.
The bad news is, I can't show Nestle. He apparently hurt his teeth on his cage/carrier/who-knows-what and now his lower jaw is out of alignment. I was sorry to hear that, but it is what it is. So we'll do a test breeding with the new doe I'm picking up. If the kits are all okay, then we'll know for sure that's what happened. If they aren't okay, then we'll know it wasn't. But he was fine on Sunday and Monday of the fair...so I'm pretty sure it's a recent thing.
Here's a picture of Boo and Judge Paul Kyle...and my very first bunny trophy:
