Okay had a few questions about showing! The show is at the end of next month, so just wanted to be ready way beforehand haha

Will a two hole be okay if I'm only showing one rabbit? This is the only cage I could find that was suitable for an angora:

Will I need to put a hutch card on it? Will a pen tattoo work? There is an experienced rabbit tattooer here that uses a pen tattoo thing.

Okay now some angora q's!

When will his ears fold? He's 6 weeks now. The bottoms of his feet aren't matted, but they are super poofy, do I leave them as is? He doesn't have a yucky bottom, but it does get wet/discolored from pee, should I baby wipe it out or cut it out? How much are blowers ora shop vac?

I may have more questions, but thanks in advance for any advice!

The two hole cage is fine. Yes you should have a cage card on it. Pen tattoo's are great! If his ear isn't tattooed yet just have it done at the show- it's usually pretty inexpensive to have done.

The ears get a bit of fold as the feathers/furnishings grow on them and weigh them down. Don't worry about them. It's better to have them a bit straight at this age then have them flopped over too much.

Leave the bottoms of the feet alone, they should still be "poofy" at his age.

When the fur on his bottom discolors- don't cut it out. I use Earthbath grooming wipes for any 'dirty' areas on my angoras' fur. You can buy them at many pet stores.

Unless your going to have over half a dozen angoras to groom I wouldn't invest in a large blower. The Andis Quietaire Ionic hand held dryer/blower works wonders for angoras. It has a cool air switch as well. If you do get a larger blower dryer I recommend the K-9 series driers, they are very durable. I have had mine for 12 years (I bought back in the day when I worked at a dog grooming salon).

Thanks again Bunnymom,K!
I'll probably get it the tattooing done by this person though. The rules said absolutely no tattooing at the show, but it could still mean that they will still have someone doing it...

Oh.. and what will happen if I cut a little bit of his fur out? It was kind of gross and wouldn't come out..

As long as it's not super noticeable it's really not a big deal, it's just more ideal if you don't. I have seen some judges really frown on anything being trimmed on an angora- and others that don't seem to mind if a little is trimmed around the genitals/anus.

OH! One more question.. What does the standard mean by colored toenails? does he need to have black toenails? They all match, but they look clear to me! Will that mean I can't show him?

Is he a solid colour? If he's black and has white/clear toenails, then he can't be shown; but if he's white and has white/clear toenails, he's good to go ;)

Coloured toenails on a broken/white rabbit are a DQ.
White/clear toenails on a solid coloured rabbit (black, etc.) are a DQ.

By coloured they mean black nails ;)

Well, he's a lilac tort. He doesn't have black toenails..
That stinks! I already entered him.. guess I can't go anymore!

I have pictures posted around here somewhere! They are all one color. Someone did tell me there is a chance that they may darken up just the slightest bit and it will be fine since he's a dilute.
