My new baby bunny is eight weeks old, and seems to be adjusting just fine. But I've noticed he doesn't chew on anything..Don't bunnies need to chew for their teeth? I have chew blocks and sticks in his cage and he hasn't touched them. Hasn't chewed the toilet paper roll or the woven bed either. So should I be concerned that he doesn't seem to be chewing? Or is it something he is too young for or maybe because I've only had him a couple days and he's still adjusting? Thanks!

The answer, in my personal experience, is both of the options you suggested. At that young of an age, baby bunnies are still learning from their motherson how to properlly take care of themselves and act like, well, bunnies. And also, since you just got him, it will still take a few days for him to adjust to his new environment and learn to be comfortable enough to act normally. Give him some time and he'll start chewing on things once he feels bored and finds the need to file his teeth down. Right now, he still has little tinybaby teeth, so keep that in mind.

I would also suggest taking out any edible chewing materials such as toilet paper roils. Baby bunnies have extremely sensitive stomachs and even simple fiber containing material can cause serious problems if ingested.

Hope this helps! Check out our website for more information on baby bunny care-

Some rabbits are picky about what they chew. Some won't even want to chew most 'chew toys'. It might also take him some time to understand what some of the things are for and that he can chew them.
Make sure he has hay as it wears down the back molars. Chew toys and wood blocks only help with the front teeth, not the back ones. Young rabbits can have alfalfa, but I would give timothy or other grass hays too so he gets used to them.
Some rabbits will totally ignore the things you want them to chew on and go for the things you don't.

Well, I know every bun is different and some are picky, but I don't see him chew anything. I do give him plenty of hay and he eats it all day long. But I dont' see him chewing much of anything else so that's why I'm concerned. But I guess since he's still a baby, I will just give him some time and see if he comes around. He's probably still learning what it means to be a bunny! Thanks all for the comments!
