shedding?

Hi guys! Its been awhile but I have a question. Midas has started to shed really bad. Everytime I pet him I'm grabbing handfuls of fur and its all over everything! Is it normal for him to molt this late in the year? He just went through a molt in July that was pretty terrible as well. Just thought I'd ask!

Bunnies molt 3 or 4 times a year. At this time of year, his winter coat is coming in and he is losing the summer coat.

Although I think some bunnies just shed constantly.

I think so. Bayou starting shedding profusely AGAIN this month. I was just recovering from the last molt. :faint:

do you guys do anything to help with the shedding? like brushing your buns? I was thinking about getting one of those shed combs to use on midas. any thoughts?

I've heard mixed results about those combs, some people love them and others say they weren't all the effective.

The best thing is just to brush them with a pin looking brush. I brush mine and with some of my rabbits I get enough fur off of them to build another rabbit.Just keep brushing as best you can. I have 16 that are going through various stages of molting and bun fur is every where and on every thing.

The more fur you get off the less the bun can ingest and cause problems.
