Am I right in assuming this colour is called Smoke from the seal point group?
He is 9 weeks old and I posted a picture in the infirmary as he has a very bad infection on his other eye.
He hasn't got a name yet and I am still in disbelief that I bought him in this state (the eye). But I think he's exceptionally handsome and I haven't seen the colour in our area before. I am dreading the upcoming vet bills though:cry2

Oh I thought the Smoke Pearl had a more uniform colour. Is this rabbits colour not from the seal point family at all?

Oh wow, nice to know he his colour has such a pretty name. I thought it was a rare colour that's why I ruled it out. If he was a girl I would call him Pearl:)

He is a siamese smoke. Over here we tend not to use the pearl part Siamese is when they have the same colour tummy as back and Marten is when they have a white tummy like Little Bay Poo's bunny. :)

They are shaded and so they do have points typically they will always have a darker smut round nose, ears, tail and feet :)

Thanks, Polly, learned something new again:) I am still not quite sure in what way the Smoke from the seal point group differs from the Siamese Smoke (Pearl) and thaen there is also the Blue point:?

they dont Lol you get siamese smoke pearl and marten smoke pearl. Over here we just never say ssp we just say siamese smoke or marten smoke.

Basically Smoke is the dilute colour of sable which when it dilutes again goes to seal point.
If you go to the national netherland dwarf website and go onto the colour page it shows all the colours of nethies and basically they are shown as they dilute so say.. black otter dilutes into blue otter etc maybe it will help you out a bit :)
btw I am certainly no genetic expert Lol
